Slipknot’s Sid Wilson Hospitalized with Severe Burns After Farm Explosion with Kelly Osbourne
Sid Wilson, the turntablist for heavy metal band Slipknot, was hospitalized on Friday after suffering severe burns in an unexpected accident. The 47-year-old musician revealed the extent of his injuries during an Instagram Live session from his hospital bed. “My face is burnt and my cheeks,” Wilson said. “I had an explosion in my face.”
Wilson, known for his intense performances and powerful presence, reassured his fans about his condition. “I’m OK. I’m going to be OK, but I did have some serious burns in my face and my arms,” he explained. He provided a close-up view of his injuries, including singed eyebrows, a blister on his mouth, and various burn marks on his face and arms.
Doctors have been thoroughly examining Wilson’s condition to ensure there’s no internal damage. He mentioned that X-rays were conducted to check if he had inhaled any flames during the incident. Despite the severity of his injuries, Wilson’s shaky hands were visible as he held his phone, underscoring the trauma his body had endured.
In a follow-up Instagram video, Wilson provided more context about the accident. He shared that he was working on a farm he owns with his girlfriend, Kelly Osbourne, in Iowa. He was trying to tend to a bonfire when it unexpectedly exploded.
Osbourne, who accompanied Wilson to the hospital, took to her Instagram Stories to issue a stark warning. “This is why you don’t f–k with burn piles,” she wrote, adding, “He literally set himself on fire; exploded everything. Ugh.” At the time, she was holding their 1-year-old son, Sidney, on her lap.
The “Papa Don’t Preach” singer also shared a heartwarming moment from the hospital. In a second Instagram Story, she showed their baby boy playing with his toys inside the hospital room while his father rested in bed. Osbourne included a “I Have No Words” GIF, capturing her emotional state as she navigated the situation.
Wilson continued to update his followers on his recovery. He assured them he was “going to be alright” and expressed his commitment to getting back on tour. “I’m going to do what it takes to see you all again,” he promised.
Later on Friday, Wilson announced he was being transferred to another medical facility better equipped to treat his burns. In his final message of the day, he reassured his fans once more: “I’m going to be ok everyone. Love you all.”
Fans and friends of the rocker have rallied around him, sending well-wishes and support as he recovers from the accident.
