Shannon Beador Demands Ex John Janssen Cover Her Legal Fees in Ongoing Lawsuit
Real Housewives of Orange County star Shannon Beador is pushing back against a lawsuit filed by her ex-boyfriend, John Janssen, seeking not only the dismissal of the case but also for him to cover her legal fees.
John Janssen, who is now dating fellow RHOC cast member Alexis Bellino, initiated the lawsuit after filming for the current season began. He alleges that Shannon borrowed $75,000 from him to fund her facelift and has failed to repay the amount.
In his suit, John accuses Shannon of fraud and breach of contract and has requested punitive damages. However, Shannon insists that the money was a gift, not a loan.
Court documents obtained by In Touch reveal that Shannon is actively seeking the dismissal of John’s lawsuit. She firmly denies all allegations of wrongdoing and argues that John should be responsible for her legal expenses.
In the legal filings, Shannon contends that John is not entitled to any form of compensation because he hasn’t “suffered any irreparable injury based on any alleged conduct” from her.
She further claims that “part, if not all, of [John’s] alleged damages were incurred as a result of [John’s] own breaches, acts, omissions, and negligence and thus recovery by [John] against [Shannon] is barred or reduced accordingly.”
Shannon’s attorney also asserted that her business practices were not “unlawful,” “unfair,” “deceptive,” or “untrue,” and that she complied with all relevant federal and state laws. The legal team is requesting that John cover Shannon’s attorney fees, labeling his claims as “frivolous.”
“[Shannon] has engaged attorneys in defense of [John’s] frivolous, unfounded and unreasonable claims and are thereby entitled to an award of reasonable attorneys’ fees pursuant to applicable law upon judgment in [Shannon’s] favor,” her attorney stated.
The lawsuit further argues that “[John’s] claims are barred, in whole or in part, due to the fact that no contract was formed because all or part of the contract or transaction resulted from fraud, deceit or misrepresentation.”
Shannon’s legal team also pointed out that “Part, if not all, of [John’s] alleged damages were the result of intervening or superseding events, acts or omissions of other parties, or industry market conditions, over which [Shannon] had no control, and for which [Shannon cannot be held liable to John].”
Shannon is also seeking a “set off of any money owed” by John, including any financial obligations he has towards her under any contract.
Ultimately, Beador is asking the court to dismiss all of Janssen’s claims and to award her legal fees for what she deems to be baseless accusations.
