Ciara Miller Shares How Her Dual Living Situation Impacts Her Career: ‘It’s Hard’
Summer House star Ciara Miller has made a name for herself both in the reality TV world and beyond.
During a recent appearance on the Something Went Wrong W/ Vinny podcast on August 6, Ciara opened up about her dual life, revealing how she splits her time between New York City and Atlanta, all while managing a demanding career in healthcare.
As a Georgia native, Ciara has deep roots in the South, which she hasn’t forgotten despite her increasingly bi-coastal lifestyle.
“So I’ll go back and forth,” she shared on the podcast. “And I’ll just work three shifts every six to eight weeks.” For Ciara, maintaining a presence in Atlanta isn’t just about convenience—it’s about staying connected to her origins while pursuing her ambitions.
When Ciara isn’t working as a travel nurse in Atlanta, she finds solace and joy in the hustle and bustle of New York City.
“I’ve been in New York for three years now,” she said. “I feel like I’m so New York now, I feel like I can’t go back.” This sentiment is a testament to how much she’s embraced the city that never sleeps, finding a second home in the Big Apple. But her connection to New York isn’t just about the lifestyle—it’s also about her passion for her work.
“I work, still,” Ciara explained, delving into her ongoing commitment to her nursing career. “I went back at the top of the year. It’s a struggle.” The critical care ICU nurse’s dedication to her profession is clear, even though she only works for short periods at a time.
However, the job isn’t without its challenges. “You’re doing 3-month or 18-week assignments, it’s chill,” she said. “But travel nurses historically get really sh-tty assignments when you’re a bedside nurse.”
Despite the less-than-glamorous aspects of her job, Ciara finds a sense of fulfillment in her fast-paced and demanding career. “But it’s hard going from like, an intense environment like that, and then going to something that’s like, so chill,” she admitted. “That’s why I can’t quit right now.”
For Ciara, nursing isn’t just a job—it’s a calling that she’s not ready to give up. “I can’t detach myself from nursing right now, because I’m like, ‘What am I gonna do that feels as fulfilling as critical care?’ You know? What’s on the other side?” she asked, reflecting on the dual nature of her life. “I live two different lives.”
These “different lives” are evident in the way Ciara presents herself on social media. A quick glance at her Instagram carousel from July 30 shows her seamlessly transitioning from city life—celebrating birthdays and traveling by ferry in Manhattan—to country living, where she’s donned in a cowboy hat, driving down rural roads.
It’s a visual representation of the balance she strives to maintain between her hectic New York existence and her roots in the South.
Ciara’s versatility extends beyond her nursing career to her modeling endeavors as well. During Season 8, Episode 2 of Summer House, which aired in February, Ciara gave fans an update on her modeling journey, a career she’s been nurturing since she was 16.
“So, me and modeling have always been a thing,” she said in the episode.
Having been able to pick up and put down her modeling career as she pleases, Ciara faces new challenges in the competitive New York market.
“The New York market is so competitive, and there are so many different types of girls,” she acknowledged. “And…I’m old, I’m short…lord, what else,” she joked. “Will I fit into this market? Yeah, I don’t know.”
