’90 Day Fiance’ Star Angela Deem Files for Divorce from Michael Ilesanmi, Accuses Him of Fraud In Court Docs!
90 Day Fiancé star Angela Deem has filed for an annulment from her husband Michael Ilesanmi just months after his arrival in the United States.
The filing, made on June 20, 2024, in Georgia court, seeks to dissolve their marriage, which was initially celebrated in Nigeria on January 27, 2020.
According to court documents obtained by Starcasm, Angela, 58, has cited a state of separation lasting 30 days preceding the filing. The petition includes allegations from Angela that Michael, 35, engaged in fraudulent activities. The filing states that Michael was involved in a conspiracy with other Nigerian men to marry U.S. citizens for the purpose of obtaining legal permanent resident status.
In the annulment petition, Angela asserts that there are no minor children resulting from the marriage and that none are anticipated. Additionally, she claims there are no joint assets or debts to be divided. Angela has requested that her last name be reverted to Deem and that Michael be ordered to cover her attorney fees and court costs.
Angela’s legal filing also includes a declaration stating her difficulties in locating Michael. “A diligent search has been made, and [Michael] cannot be found within the State. I do not know where [Michael] lives or where [Michael] can be found,” Angela’s declaration reads. The documents indicate that Michael’s last known address was her residence in Hazlehurst, Georgia, where he resided until February 1, 2024, but is no longer living.
Angela further explained her attempts to locate Michael, noting that he “is not from this country” and that she lacks contact information for his family in Nigeria. She also stated that Michael abandoned the marital residence in Hazlehurst and has not been in touch with her since his arrival in the U.S. in December 2023. Angela’s lawyer requested permission to serve Michael with the annulment paperwork via a public notice in a local newspaper, given the difficulty in locating him. A judge granted this request.
The judge’s order noted:
“It appearing by affidavit that the above named Respondent on whom service is to be made in this case resides out of the state, or has departed from the state, or after due diligence cannot be found within the State of Georgia, or conceals himself to avoid service of the Summons, and it further appearing, either by affidavit or by verified complaint on file, that a claim exists against the Respondent in respect to whom service is made, and that he is a necessary or proper party to the action.”
As of now, Michael has not responded to the case. The couple, who have a significant age difference of 22 years, first appeared on 90 Day Fiancé in 2018. They initially maintained a long-distance relationship before marrying in 2020 despite ongoing challenges. Their relationship reportedly deteriorated shortly after Michael’s arrival in the U.S., with Angela publicly claiming on social media in late February that Michael had gone missing. Authorities later confirmed to Angela that Michael was safe.
