Cardi B Shuts Down Claims of Offset’s Lack of Support Amid Divorce: ‘He Helps Me a Lot’

Cardi B has strongly denied recent claims suggesting that her estranged husband, Offset, was unsupportive in the lead-up to her filing for divorce.

On Friday, August 2, sources reported that Cardi, 31, filed for divorce because their marriage had become “more of a distraction than support.” However, after an Instagram gossip account shared the news, Cardi quickly shut down the rumors in the comments.

“OK, this is getting weird because I can say he helps me a lot with my business and the kids,” Cardi wrote on Saturday, August 3. “Never in my career, no matter what I went through, have I had friends or family go to the media, so I don’t know who this damn source is going to People magazine.”

She further clarified her intentions regarding the divorce, adding, “Even with my filing, I’m not asking for child support; my claim is for him to only pay for the bills he already pays on the kids and the new one.”

Us Weekly confirmed on Thursday, August 1, that the “Bartier Cardi” rapper officially filed for divorce after six years of marriage. “It has been a long time coming and is amicable,” Cardi’s rep stated, noting that the “Bodak Yellow” rapper is seeking primary custody of the couple’s two children.

Cardi and Offset, 32, share daughter Kulture, 6, and son Wave, 2, and are also expecting their third child together. Cardi took to Instagram on Thursday to debut her baby bump, writing, “With every ending comes a new beginning! I am so grateful to have shared this season with you; you have brought me more love, more life, and most of all renewed my power.”

She continued, “You’ve reminded me that I never have to choose between life, love, and my passion! I love you so much and cannot wait for you to witness what you helped me accomplish, what you pushed me to do”

While Cardi did not explicitly confirm Offset’s paternity in her post, it was revealed in her divorce petition that she is requesting child support for all three of their children. (Offset also has three older children from previous relationships.)

Cardi and Offset began dating in February 2017 and were married that September. Their relationship has faced numerous ups and downs, including a split in 2018 amid cheating rumors, which they ultimately reconciled.

Cardi filed for divorce again in September 2020 but called off the petition a month later. This latest split appears to be final, despite previous instances of reconciliation.

“Cardi’s saying she’s done with Offset, even after their New Year’s Eve hookup, but friends aren’t convinced,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in January. “This is a pattern with them. He’s a serial cheater. She flips out but then runs right back to him.”

Offset has never publicly admitted to infidelity during their marriage.
