Teresa Giudice, the star of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, is speaking out about her approach to her children’s exposure on the show, particularly regarding her eldest daughter, Gia Giudice.

During a candid conversation on “Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa,” Teresa shared insights into why Gia has become a frequent fixture in recent episodes, especially during Season 14.

Gia, now 23, has transitioned from a child growing up before the cameras to taking a more active role amidst the series’ unfolding dramas.

“I feel like Gia is, like, coming into her own on the show,” noted host Kelly Ripa in the episode aired on July 30.

Teresa expressed her pride and support for Gia’s increased presence on “RHONJ,” despite some backlash from fellow cast members. “I mean, she has grown up on the show,” Teresa explained. “Some people get jealous on the show that she’s around, like some of my cast members. And it’s like, who cares? And they call her a kid. And she’s not a kid. She’s an adult.”

The involvement of Teresa’s daughters, particularly Gia, has not been without controversy. ‘

During a particularly tense episode, John Fuda, husband to cast member Rachel Fuda, referenced Gia while discussing his past legal troubles related to marijuana, drawing parallels that did not sit well with the Giudice family.

“I was younger than her daughter Gia is, right? And I know in the past, I guess Jackie has accused Gia or made an allegation … that got spun out of control,” John commented, stirring discomfort within the cast.

Gia herself addressed the comparisons directly, clarifying her stance on being used in such discussions.

“What happened to [John] is not an analogy, it’s a fact about his past,” Gia pointedly told her mother in a later episode. Her displeasure was evident as she firmly stated, “Don’t use my name in an analogy. Jackie, Fuda, I don’t care who you are. Mention your own kids’ name.”

This sentiment was echoed by Melissa Gorga, another RHONJ star, who found it inappropriate to involve Gia in adult controversies. “She’s a child; why are you talking to a child about adult conversations?” Gorga questioned, highlighting the oddity of the situation.’

In attempts to diffuse the tension, Dolores Catania intervened, explaining to Teresa and Gia that John’s comments were meant to be reflective rather than accusatory.

“He was putting into perspective you would get mad that somebody talked about your daughter at that age,” Dolores attempted to clarify.
