A Source Reveals Cardi B’s Latest Divorce Filing ‘Wasn’t an Easy Decision’

Cardi B’s decision to file for divorce from Offset has been a challenging one, but according to insiders, it’s been “a long time coming.”

An exclusive source tells PEOPLE that “filing for divorce again wasn’t an easy decision” for the chart-topping rapper. “She has two kids already, is pregnant and is also a working mom. She’d love to have a great marriage too, but she needs to end it.”

Those close to the “Press” rapper, 31, are said to be fully behind her choice to end the marriage. “It’s been a long time coming,” the insider adds.

“It’s not just one issue. She’s matured a lot. She knows exactly what she wants her life to look like. She’s super focused on her kids and work,” the insider reveals.

Despite the strains in their relationship, the source emphasizes that Cardi and Offset remain on good terms and are committed to co-parenting their two children: daughter Kulture Kiari, 6, and son Wave Set, 2. “Offset has always been supportive of Cardi and their family,” another source shares.

Cardi and Offset’s relationship has been marked by ups and downs since their September 2017 wedding, with much of the turbulence linked to rumors of Offset’s infidelity.

Just a couple of days before Cardi filed for divorce, Offset, 32, denied cheating allegations after a blurry video surfaced on social media that appeared to show him sitting at a table with his alleged ex-girlfriend, Big PrettyRedz. 

The pair first announced their split in 2018, only to reconcile shortly after. Cardi then filed for divorce in September 2020, a move that was also later reversed.

Now, with the latest divorce filing on July 31, a representative for Cardi confirmed to PEOPLE that the decision, while difficult, “was not based on cheating rumors, but rather has been a long time coming.”‘

Just hours after the divorce news became public, Cardi took to Instagram on August 1 to announce that she is pregnant with her third child after rumors swirling around that she was expecting. 

“With every ending comes a new beginning! I am so grateful to have shared this season with you, you have brought me more love, more life and most of all renewed my power!” she wrote, seemingly addressing her unborn child in the heartfelt post.
