‘The Valley’ Star Jax Taylor Opens Up About His Decision to Enter Mental Health Treatment
Jax Taylor is opening up about his decision to enter a mental health facility, and it’s clear that his son Cruz is at the forefront of his mind.
On Wednesday, the 45-year-old “The Valley” star shared a poignant Instagram Story photo of himself holding and kissing his 3-year-old son, Cruz. “Trying to get better for you buddy, daddy loves you so much,”
Taylor wrote, capturing a tender moment where Cruz, the son of Jax and his estranged wife Brittany Cartwright, enjoyed a snack. The photo underscores Taylor’s motivation for seeking treatment, as his rep confirmed on Tuesday that the reality star is undergoing inpatient care.
“Jax has always been candid about his mental health struggles, especially during the past few months on his podcast,” Taylor’s representative told Page Six. “This is a particularly sensitive time for him and his family,” the rep added, requesting privacy until Jax is ready to discuss the matter further.
Taylor had previously spoken about his mental health on his joint podcast with Cartwright, “When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany.” Last month, Taylor revealed a breakthrough moment with a “fantastic” female doctor he met at his new sports bar, Jax’s Studio City. “I went in there, and I literally just broke down,” he shared.
“I’m like, ‘This is what’s wrong with me, and this is what I’m doing, and this is who I’m attacking. And I have serious, serious anger issues, and I have a child, and I don’t want him to see me act like that.’”
Cartwright, 35, who co-hosted the podcast with Taylor, mentioned their efforts to “exhaust everything else” before considering divorce. Jax added, “We’re trying to live separately, we’re trying to possibly date other people, we’re trying to, you know, figure out what works for us.”
The couple, who gained fame on Vanderpump Rules, announced their separation in late February after nearly five years of marriage. In April, Jax expressed his commitment to self-improvement, hoping to reconcile with Brittany.
