Scheana Shay Stands Firm with ‘No Regrets’ After Vanderpump Rules Season 11
Scheana Shay is unapologetic and reflective following the intense Season 11 finale and reunion of Vanderpump Rules.
On the latest episode of her podcast, Scheananigans, Scheana opened up about the dramatic season and her decisions during the finale and reunion episodes.
When a fan questioned if she regretted any of her actions from those high-stakes moments, Shay responded candidly. Although the question was vague, it seemed to touch on her controversial interactions with Tom Sandoval, especially in the wake of his breakup with Shay’s close friend, Ariana Madix.
“No regrets, but I wouldn’t repeat my actions,” Scheana admitted during the July 26 episode. “I felt, in the moment, I was doing what felt best for me to be able to sleep at night. For me to give a little grace, I felt like that’s what I needed to do.”
The season focused heavily on the fallout from Tom’s split with Ariana, which put Shay in a challenging position. Despite her loyalty to Madix, Scheana found herself struggling to sever ties with Sandoval. This inner conflict was evident during the Season 11 reunion when she told Tom, “I [will] never forget what a good friend you’ve been to me. You’re the only person who’s had my back since day one. I don’t forget that… I had to choose a side. And [Ariana] didn’t do anything wrong.”
In the podcast, Shay reflected on how she was overly concerned with others’ perceptions, a mindset she has been working to change.
She recounted a recent encounter with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre’s producer during a trip to London, which provided her with new perspective.
“And here’s one thing that was told to me this weekend by Dr. Dre’s producer. He said that he is friends with three billionaires and the one thing that they all have in common is they don’t give a f-ck,” Scheana shared.
“And I’m like, ‘God, what does that feel like?’ I mean maybe that’s why I’m not a billionaire because I care so much about what everyone else thinks. I’m kidding. But I do. And I feel like you guys know that,” she claims.
Shay acknowledged her struggle with balancing her personal values with the demands of the show. “I can live in the comment section at times. I do always try to do the right thing,” she said.
“But last summer I was also trying to do the right thing for me and I was trying to just figure out how I could, you know, navigate this show with these two people while staying loyal to Ariana,” she elaborates.
Despite her good intentions, Scheana admitted that her approach isn’t always perfect. “I have a good heart, and I’m just trying to do the right thing,” she said. “I’m trying to be a perfectionist… It doesn’t always work out… No regrets. But yeah, definitely not repeating.”
Shay also shared some profound advice she received from Snoop Dogg, who offered a unique take on the “YOLO” philosophy. “He said that people always like to say you only live once,” she recalled.
“And he goes, ‘But I’d like to say you only die once so you should live every day.’ And I was like, wow, that was poetic… And he said, you know, when it comes to your daughter you have to let her learn so you can be a better teacher… So yeah, wise words of advice from Dr. Dre’s producer and Snoop Dogg. Epic,” she says.
As Scheana continues to navigate her public and personal life, it’s clear she’s committed to learning from her experiences and embracing wisdom from unlikely sources.
VPR is on pause.
