Kyle Cooke Denies Involvement in Hannah Berner’s Firing from ‘Summer House’
Summer House star Kyle Cooke has openly refuted claims made by former cast member Hannah Berner that he influenced her getting fired from the show.
In a detailed interview with Page Six, Kyle expressed his dismay over Hannah’s recent allegations and emphasized his lack of involvement in casting decisions.
Hannah, who got fired from Summer House in 2021, suggested on Dave Portnoy’s “BFFs” podcast that her promotional work with Truly Hard Seltzer, a competitor to Cooke’s beverage company Loverboy, was a contributing factor to her firing.
She expressed confusion over the supposed restrictions against promoting competing brands. “I didn’t know [I] wasn’t allowed to drink other drinks,” Berner stated, implying that Cooke might have played a role in her exit.
Kyle responded to these claims by stating, “I have nothing to do with casting. It’s upsetting that this is the narrative being shared because there’s no truth to it. I’m flattered anyone thinks I could have that kind of pull, but clearly, I don’t have any control over what Bravo does.”
The entrepreneur, who is married to Hannah’s former best friend Amanda Batula, also addressed Hannah’s assertion directly: “That’s a ridiculous statement and completely false.”
He noted the incorrect timing of the events Berner described, explaining that her collaboration with Truly occurred long after key moments on the show had passed.
Reflecting on Berner’s promotional activities, Kyle mentioned, “We never spoke about it, but when I saw it, I thought that it made a lot of sense for them to tap into the Bravo fanbase.”
Cooke also shared his perspective on the dynamics within the show, suggesting that Berner’s departure was more likely linked to interpersonal conflicts than any professional rivalry.
“Personally, I think she was saying things on multiple podcasts leading up to the reunion that upset a lot of our group, and that’s what got in the way,” he explained.
Despite the controversy, Kyle holds no grudges and even reached out to Berner in the past, acknowledging her successes in comedy and podcasting.
“I’ve said on multiple occasions that I would love to put this behind us,” he affirmed, expressing a desire to reconcile and move forward without any lingering animosity.
As for Hannah, she has continued to build her career outside of Summer House, focusing on stand-up comedy and podcasting, areas where Kyle sincerely wishes her continued success.
Summer House season nine is still filming.
