Bethenny Frankel Calls Off First Date After Paul Bernon Split: ‘The Guy’s Not My Type’
Bethenny Frankel, the Real Housewives of New York City alum, took to TikTok last week to reveal a sudden change of plans involving her first date since parting ways with ex-fiancé Paul Bernon.
What began as an evening poised for romance quickly turned into a self-empowerment moment for Frankel.
Before heading out in the Hamptons, Bethenny had chosen a vibrant pink dress by Hemant & Nandita, paired with Vince Camuto heels and a blush Dior saddle bag.
“Outfit for the date. Let’s rip the Band-Aid right off,” she declared in a video, showing off her ensemble and makeup before cheekily adding, “Listen, gotta come in hot. Have a good night.”
However, the mood shifted dramatically in a follow-up clip, with Frankel inside her car abruptly announcing, “Abort! Abort! Not going on the date. Will explain later,” leaving fans curious about the sudden decision.
Bethenny later elaborated on the events that led to her cancellation. “So I got dressed up to go out on a date with someone, and it was a last-minute thing, so that’s fine,” she explained.
But the date’s dynamics changed when she discovered he planned to also meet a friend.
As Frankel approached the meeting spot, she saw the man and their mutual friend walking down the street. “The guy’s not my type,” she confessed to her followers, adding, “and I’m all dressed up.”
Compounding the evening’s complexity, Bethenny ran into her daughter Bryn, who had just finished dinner.
Bryn encouraged her to go ahead with the date, but Frankel opted out, “I don’t want to waste time. I’d rather be home with you. I don’t want to go,” she told her daughter. Resigned yet humorous, Frankel noted, “It sucks that I think I look cute, but I’m not going, so now I don’t know what the hell to do.”
Choosing to make the most of her night out, Bethenny decided to visit chef Rocco DiSpirito’s new restaurant instead, embracing what she dubbed her “adventure era.”
The decision to forego the date stemmed from more than just a lack of interest. Frankel revealed that her potential suitor had suggested she pick him up, a proposal that didn’t sit well with her.
“Like, you can meet me there or you can pick me up, but I’m not picking you up. I don’t like how it’s going to make me feel. That’s not happening,” she stated firmly.
Her doubts deepened after some investigative work into his background revealed concerning details about his financial situation.
“I don’t know how I ended up [on] the internet, inside this man’s divorce agreement, which told me that his ex is supporting him,” she disclosed, expressing shock over the discovery that he might have misrepresented his financial standing.
This mix of personal standards and a surprising peek into her date’s past led Bethenny to a clear conclusion:
“We don’t want no scrubs, OK? And supporting a man? Yeah, been there, done that,” she quipped, reflecting on her own experiences.
This candid peek into Frankel’s dating life comes after news in May confirmed the end of her engagement with Bernon.
Meanwhile, Paul has also returned to the dating scene, he’s been seeing Aurora Culpo and they both met each others’ kids.
As Bethenny navigates single life, her fans can expect more straightforward and spirited updates from the Skinnygirl entrepreneur, who continues to share her journey with characteristic openness and wit.
