In a bittersweet farewell to her storied New York City townhouse, Sonja Morgan, 60, shared heartfelt sentiments as she officially departed from the cherished Upper East Side property.
Known for its role as a backdrop to numerous Real Housewives of New York City moments over Sonja’s decade-plus tenure on the show, the brownstone has been a hub of familial joy and entertainment.
“Reflecting on the wonderful memories created in our cherished townhouse — from raising my daughter to hosting unforgettable dinner parties and of course filming iconic Real Housewives scenes,” Sonja Morgan shared on Instagram, encapsulating the emotional significance of the move.
“This stately brownstone has been a cornerstone of me and [my] family’s life, a beautiful sanctuary filled with laughter and love 💕,” she claimed.
Preparing for a new phase in her life, Sonja expressed readiness to reconnect with her artistic roots.
“As I prepare to embrace a new chapter, I feel lighter and ready to return to my roots as an artist, with more time to be the creative individual I am. 🧑🎨 #ImanArtist,” she wrote, signaling her eagerness for what lies ahead.
The property, boasting five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a secret elevator, sauna, and gym, recently sold at auction for $4.45 million.
Though Morgan’s departure wasn’t captured by Bravo cameras, the transition was not without its dramatic moments, fit for reality TV.
In an Instagram post documenting her move, Sonja humorously recounted the logistical challenge of relocating her beloved fish. “Before saying one last goodbye to the property, Morgan asked the movers how they could move her fish to the next property.
‘I’m not leaving without my fish! 🐠,’ she captioned the Instagram post before discovering a dead koi. ‘End of a different kind of era… 🪦,'” she lamented, with her daughter Quincy Morgan chiming in, “Mom the fish can’t go on the truck 😂.”
Looking ahead, Sonja affirmed her decisiveness about this move, marking it as final. “Every time I would list it, I would rent it because I’d have to pay the bills every month,” Sonja explained on a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. “This time I said, ‘Auction it. I want out. I want a finite time. I am out.’”
