Katie Maloney Says She’s Distanced Herself from ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Cast Following Dramatic Reunion!
Katie Maloney recently opened up about her current relationships with her Vanderpump Rules castmates, revealing a significant distance between herself and most of the group since the show was put on hold.
In an interview on the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast on July 2, Katie, 37, was candid about her limited contact with her co-stars, especially Tom Sandoval.
“I don’t see him. I don’t see anybody,” she admitted, though she did specify one exception. “I would see Ariana [Madix], but she’s in freaking Fiji [filming Love Island USA].”
Katie has been focusing heavily on her business venture with Ariana, the sandwich shop named Something About Her.

Despite the physical distance, Maloney tries to keep Madix updated: “I talk to Ariana all the time. I talked to her last night for a long time, just to update her on everything that’s going on. But there’s a massive time difference that’s happening,” she explained.
“I just try to keep her in the loop of everything that’s going on. But it’s hard sometimes because I want her to be around and experiencing everything.”
Spending her summer with Dayna Kathan, a former VPR alum and her current podcast co-host, Katie appears to be less worried about the potential end of Vanderpump Rules.
Responding to questions about the future of the show, she remarked, “I mean, I’m not going to be concerned until it’s time to be concerned. And it doesn’t feel like it’s time to be concerned.”
Maloney’s sentiment about her castmates was echoed in a March appearance on “The Viall Files,” where she expressed her disillusionment with the group’s dynamics off-camera.
“What group? They don’t even f–king hang out,” Katie responded sharply, emphasizing her desire not to maintain a façade of friendship.
She elaborated on her personal growth and the standards she now sets for her relationships: “Through my healing journey, I’ve come to an agreement with myself with the standard of people I want to have in my life. And if this character doesn’t meet the criteria, I’m just gonna not have that. And yeah, build up boundaries.”

This healing journey seems particularly pertinent in light of her recent conflict with Lala Kent, which was highlighted at the show’s reunion.
Lala accused Katie of having private conversations that weren’t addressed on screen, to which Maloney responded: “I felt like obviously she had been harboring certain feelings and thinking certain things that I didn’t know she had felt. And so she was saving them for the reunion, which I didn’t feel like was super authentic,” she reflected.
“To sit there and be called an inauthentic person or fake. But meanwhile, I’m sitting next to somebody who I thought I knew and knew very well and was open and honest with me, but had been feeling a certain way about me for a very long time. That was shocking.”
Katie firmly stated that forgiving Kent would be difficult: “Once you violate my trust like that, it’s very hard to come back from. Trust is the most important thing to me. And when you try to manipulate me with that and use it against me and say we talked about these things,” she said.
“Those weren’t the kind of conversations that were meant for the camera. Not everything is. … I’m allowed to have some kind of privacy and talk about emotions with people. I do with my mom, I do with other friends.”
As Katie navigates these strained relationships, it remains unclear what the future holds for her and the rest of the Vanderpump Rules cast.
