Melissa Gorga Reveals Kathy Wakile is Her New Neighbor!
Real Housewives of New Jersey star Melissa Gorga has shared that her estranged cousin, Kathy Wakile and husband Richard Wakile, have made a bold move by purchasing property just across the street from her newly built home.
During a candid conversation on SiriusXM’s “Jeff Lewis Live,” Melissa, 45, revealed the neighborhood scoop:
“Her and Richie just bought the lot on my street, across the street from me, and they are building a house diagonal from me across the street on my street. Literally.”
The revelation came after Melissa’s husband, Joe Gorga, spotted the property while driving through their New Jersey neighborhood.
According to Melissa, Joe was eager to snap up the lakeside property, exclaiming, “This went up yesterday. I am going to bid full price.” However, it seems Kathy had a preexisting connection with the previous owner, having long admired the home. Despite Joe’s full-price offer, the Wakiles secured the property before the Gorgas could make their move.
The Gorgas and Wakiles, once close due to family ties, have drifted apart since tensions flared between Kathy and Joe’s sister, Teresa Giudice, during Season 7 of RHONJ. Kathy, 58, departed from the show thereafter, while the familial rifts persisted, leaving Joe and Kathy at odds despite their shared history.
Reflecting on the situation, Melissa expressed a hopeful sentiment regarding Joe’s strained relationships, emphasizing that family matters far exceed any reality TV drama.
“It is what I want for him, and I think deep down inside, he wants it too,” she remarked. Melissa highlighted Joe’s emotional nature, underscoring his desire to mend fences despite past conflicts.
For Melissa and Joe, their move to the new six-bedroom, 5,000-square-foot mansion symbolizes a fresh start away from the spotlight of reality TV but not without its reminders of unresolved family dynamics. While the Gorgas haven’t shared screen time with the Wakiles since 2016, recent social media spats reignited old tensions in 2021 when insults were exchanged online.
Acknowledging the rift, Melissa has publicly extended goodwill toward the Wakile family, emphasizing her affection for their children. Kathy, on her part, has chosen to distance herself from the drama, opting to step away from the “bubble” of reality TV and focus on personal growth beyond the camera’s glare.
As construction commences on Kathy and Richie’s new home just yards away, the neighborhood dynamics promise to evolve, raising the possibility of unexpected reunions or further entrenchment in their separate spheres.
For now, Melissa remains optimistic about the future, hopeful that family ties will prevail over past grievances as their lives continue to unfold beyond the cameras.
