Max Boyens has candidly addressed his departure from TomTom, shedding light on a contentious exit from the restaurant co-owned by Ken Todd and reality TV maven Lisa Vanderpump.

In a recent Q&A with fans, the 32-year-old former Vanderpump Rules star revealed that financial disputes with Ken Todd led to his decision to leave in 2021.

“I left the bar because I didn’t like working there anymore [and] because Ken owed me money,” Max explained in a clip.

“He owed me about $8,000 and he didn’t pay me. And I had to get a lawyer involved and then he paid me. And you know what he said? He said ‘I’m not paying you because you deserve it. I’m paying you out of goodwill.’”

Despite the rocky exit, Max expressed that the matter has since been resolved, referring to it as a dispute that occurred “years ago.”

Max’s stint on Vanderpump Rules, which began during its eighth season, came to an abrupt end alongside several other cast members due to past controversies, including racist tweets.

Following his firing in June 2020, he continued to work at TomTom for several months before officially parting ways in May 2021.

An insider told The Sun that Max’s departure stemmed from disagreements over compensation and benefits.

“They wouldn’t give him health insurance or the salary he wanted. Lisa doesn’t provide any staffers with healthcare,” the source revealed. “After years and years of hard work, he had enough when they still wouldn’t even value him enough for health insurance.”

Reflecting on his earnings during his time on the show, Max disclosed on Up and Adam in 2023 that he earned around $4,000, emphasizing the financial challenges of his role.

“They paid me little to nothing. As a new cast member, you don’t make episodic pay,” he shared.

“It is just a flat rate. It is not a lot at all, it just gets you by … and they also pay it to you in increments.”

Aside from that, Max’s personal life has also been a topic of discussion among fans. His relationships with fellow cast members, including brief encounters with Scheana Shay, Katie Maloney, and Kristen Doute, have sparked controversy within the Vanderpump Rules community.

Vanderpump Rules is on pause for season 12.
