Luann de Lesseps Claims ‘RHONJ’ Cast Will Lose Money Amid Reunion Being Cancelled
Luann de Lesseps, the former star of The Real Housewives of New York, is keeping busy with a flourishing career in music and cabaret following her departure from the franchise.
In a recent interview on the Behind the Velvet Rope With David Yontef podcast, Luann touched on various topics including the absence of a Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion and the inspiration behind her song “Girl Code.”
Reflecting on the unexpected cancellation of the RHONJ reunion, Luann expressed surprise and speculated about the reasons behind the decision.
“Well, you know, I guess there was some sort of a reason that it didn’t happen, and I don’t know. I mean, it never happened in the past, so this is all new. I mean, I’m surprised. I’m really surprised,” she remarked, highlighting her curiosity despite not actively following the show’s recent developments.
When asked if the trend of forgoing Housewives reunions could continue, Luann suggested, “Maybe it’s a new trend. I don’t know, but you know it’s a chunk of change that they’re gonna miss.”
She confirmed that cast members typically receive a bonus for participating in reunions, but acknowledged that sometimes it’s better not to revisit contentious issues if they are too intense.
The conversation then turned to Luann’s former RHONY co-star, Carole Radziwill, and her ongoing interest in the franchise.
Luann remarked, “Yeah, for somebody that doesn’t care about the show anymore, she seems to pretty much care.” Regarding her song “Girl Code,” speculated by some to be about Carole, Luann clarified, “Well, I would say it was more Heather [Thompson] that inspired that. She was the one really, she was the one that was really more vocal. Yeah, Carole was just kind of standing around.”
On a personal note, Luann shared insights into her love life, revealing she’s dating but not looking to remarry.
She humorously outlined her criteria for a partner as “tall with a full head of hair and a big peepee and private plane.”
Addressing rumors about her relationship with Captain Jason Chambers, Luann asserted, “No. He had an interest in me, darling. Let’s turn this around, okay?”
Looking ahead, Luann discussed the upcoming season of RHONY and the addition of designer Rebecca Minkoff to the cast, admitting she doesn’t know her personally but is curious to see how she’ll fare on the show.
The interview also touched on Luann’s support for Dorinda Medley joining the new season of “Traitors,” noting Dorinda’s dedication to preparation with workouts and self-care before filming commenced.
