Fans Claim They Wouldn’t Mind If ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Is Canceled Amid Rumors
Bravo’s hit reality series Vanderpump Rules will be returning, contrary to fan speculation about its future following the dramatic three-part season finale in May.
PEOPLE can confirm that Bravo intends to bring back the series after a brief hiatus prompted by the events of seasons 10 and 11.
Season 11 focused on the fallout from Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix’s breakup after Sandoval’s affair with co-star Rachel Leviss, who used to be “Raquel,” ended their 10-year relationship in March 2023.
The final episode, which aired on May 7, saw Sandoval’s tearful apology leading Ariana, 38, to walk out in the middle of the season-end party, creating additional tension among the cast.
On April 24, Deadline reported that filming for season 12 of Vanderpump Rules was delayed and would not occur this summer. This news, along with the dramatic finale, fueled speculation about who would return if the series continued.
Fans saw on Instagram claimed that several cast members had removed any mention of the show from their social media bios, adding to the rumors.
However, this claim appears inaccurate, as screengrabs showed Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz still had “#pumprules” in their profiles as of June 18.
The hiatus is deemed necessary after the highly charged events of the last two seasons.
Vanderpump Rules producer Alex Baskin told Variety that the break would provide “a clearer picture a few months from now” regarding the returning cast, as the recent seasons were “such an intense experience in such a compressed timeframe.”
“I think we will do an analysis of what else we need to consider for the show — and that’s who returns, and what the complexion of the cast looks like,” Alex said. “I think everybody needs a little bit of time to live their lives, and then we can pick back up on them in a different spot.”
On May 1, Andy Cohen mentioned on SiriusXM’s “Andy Cohen Live” that hiatuses are not uncommon for Bravo shows. “We used to do this all the time with the Housewives,” Andy said. “We would say, ‘You know what? Let’s put cameras down for, you know, four or five months and come back to them.’ And they will have lived life. Things will be different.”
Lisa Vanderpump also confirmed with E! News that the show is not going to be canceled anytime soon. “Vanderpump Rules is on hiatus just for a little bit,” the 63-year-old said. “Let it breathe. I think we were going around in circles for a little bit.”
Fans have mixed reactions about the show’s future. Some expressed relief, citing fatigue with recent storylines. “We are over Scandoval,” one fan commented.
“I don’t mind if the show stops airing because these people are grown now. Put in a new fresh cast.” Another added, “I’m tired of seeing these 40-year-olds do dumb things like they’re in their 20s. They need to grow up.”
Despite the pause, Vanderpump Rules is set to make a comeback, promising a refreshed take on the beloved reality series.
