PK Kemsley Reflects on Sobriety as ‘Greatest Gift’ on Father’s Day Amid Separation
Paul “PK” Kemsley marked a significant personal achievement this Father’s Day, revealing a sober milestone of six months without alcohol in an emotional Instagram post.
“On Father’s Day, the greatest gift I can give my 5 kids is to remain sober,” wrote PK, 56, alongside an image detailing his journey through the Twelve Steps, highlighting his half-year mark: 6.06 months, 186 days, and 4,453 hours.
“Grateful and proud to say this weekend I am 6 months … Happy Fathers Day to all you great dads out there doing your best.”
The announcement comes amidst his separation from his wife of 9 years, Dorit Kemsley, 47, which they publicly disclosed last month.
The couple addressed PK’s drinking during the recent season of RHOBH, with Dorit acknowledging, “PK was drinking a lot and he’s a drinker. I just think that it’s very difficult to have clear-headed conversations when he’s drinking so much, so he gave up drinking”
Reflecting on their challenges during the season finale, Dorit questioned the possibility of change for PK and pondered its implications on their future.
She candidly admitted, “No matter how hard I try, it feels like he’s never gonna take me seriously and be as present as I need him to be when I need him,” later adding, “Maybe he’ll never change but, do I have to accept that he won’t? Can I? I don’t know.”
Married since March 2015, Dorit and PK have two children together, daughter Phoenix, 7, and son Jagger, 9. PK also has three children from his previous marriage, who have been referenced but not featured on the Bravo reality series.
Their separation was confirmed after previous denials of rumors suggesting time apart, stated in a joint statement in October 2023:
“We remain committed to working through these issues as a united couple for our family. We have not separated nor are we planning to do so. Rather, we are focused on healing, making changes and doing the things that many couples have to do at some point in their marriage.”
During the RHOBH reunion episode in March, Dorit elaborated on the worsening state of their relationship post-filming: “After we wrapped [filming], things got progressively worse, and him and I were at probably an all-time bad.”
As they navigate this challenging period, Dorit summed it up in a recent Instagram comment on their separation announcement: “S— happens. It’s called life.”
Production for RHOBH has already kicked off, and the cast has been filming.
