‘Doubling Down with the Derricos’ Stars Deon and Karen Derrico Finalize Divorce: Discover Deon’s Child Support Payment for Their 14 Kids!
Deon and Karen Derrico, stars of TLC’s Doubling Down with the Derricos have announced the end of their marriage.
Known for chronicling the challenges of parenting their 14 children on TLC, the couple filed for divorce on June 4. The divorce was finalized on June 6 after the judge signed off on the divorce petition.
Legal documents reveal that Deon and Karen will share both legal and physical custody of their 13 minor children.
The couple wed in 2005, are parents to a large and well-known family.
Their children include Derrick, aged 13, twins Dallas and Denver, both 12, quintuplets Deonee, Daician, Daiten, Deniko, and Dariz, aged 10, as well as Diez and Dior, aged 6, and triplets Dawsyn, De’Aren, and Dyver, aged 4. Their eldest daughter, Darian, is 18 years old.
In the settlement, Deon will contribute $1,166 per month in child support. Karen, on the other hand, will be responsible for the children’s medical insurance, as reported by TMZ.
Their eldest child, Darian, who is 18 years old, is not mentioned in the divorce filing.
Despite the divorce, Karen has decided to retain the surname Derrico, opting not to request the restoration of her maiden name. The judge approved this decision as part of the settlement agreement.
The announcement of Deon and Karen Derrico’s divorce arrives just two weeks ahead of the season 5 finale of their reality show, Doubling Down with the Derricos, scheduled for July 2.
During the current season, the reality series highlighted the challenges faced by the Derricos as they navigate the search for a new home, a process described as prolonged and strenuous, placing significant pressure on Deon and Karen’s relationship.
In the latest season of Doubling Down With the Derricos, viewers follow the family’s transition from Las Vegas to their new fixer-upper residence. The episodes capture Karen and Deon navigating various milestones with their children:
Darian pursuing her aspirations in New York City, Derrick preparing for a significant milestone, Dallas and Denver embarking on their puberty journey, and the younger quintuplets showing early signs of romantic interest, while Diez, Dior, Dawsyn, De’Aren, and Dyver continue to mature.
Karen Derrico made headlines for giving birth naturally to all 14 of their children.
In 2022, Karen and Deon Derrico discussed their openness to expanding their family in an interview with ET.
Karen expressed her firm stance against concluding their parenting journey at 14 children, stating, “No, that diaper bag is not being hung up. I don’t feel complete. I don’t think we are 100 percent complete.”
Deon echoed her sentiments, emphasizing the immense love they have cultivated in their household, saying:
“[I] think when you have created — what I think we have created — in this home, the love, the amount of love, I could just never get tired of.”
The prospect of welcoming another child also evoked strong emotions in Karen.
“I would have never thought that not only would he have given me 14 amazing children,” she said as she started choking back tears, “but 14 really, like, good … I just want the best for all of them.”
