‘Teen Mom’ Star Amber Portwood’s Fiance Gary Wayt Spotted After Reported Disappearance
In a new development, Teen Mom star Amber Portwood’s fiancé, Gary Wayt, was spotted in Oklahoma, after being reported missing on June 11.
Per Bryson City police, Gary Wayt, 39, was sighted in Oklahoma via video footage confirmed by Us Weekly — a distance of over 900 miles from his last documented location with Portwood, 34.
Law enforcement reported Gary’s presence outside a Walgreens in Bryson City, North Carolina, on June 9. Portwood filed a missing persons report for Wayt, and the investigation is ongoing. Wayt was driving a 2009 gray Nissan Rogue SUV with Indiana license plates when last seen.
An insider disclosed Amber Portwood’s anguish over Gary Wayt’s disappearance.
“She’s beside herself, worried about him,” the source revealed. “He should have been home by now if he was driving back to Indiana. It doesn’t seem he’s been to their house in Indiana. Amber is distraught. She has friends helping to locate him.”
Amber and Gary had traveled to attend a family wedding in Bryson City over the weekend.
“They were spending several days in the Smoky Mountains,” another source disclosed. “On Sunday, June 9, they had an emotional conversation. Gary left in the car without her, leaving his cell phone behind.”
Amber addressed the situation on Wednesday, June 12.
“This is a huge deal, his parents, everybody is very worried. I am worried,” she tearfully said during a YouTube stream. “There was not a big blowout fight or anything like that. He is a missing person right now.”
She added, “Nobody has found or heard from him yet. I’m trying my best to not think the worst. I have not eaten in three days. I slept maybe an hour.”
Amber’s baby daddy, Gary Shirley, father of her 15-year-old daughter Leah, also commented.
“We need to find this man @carolebaskincat @kristina_shirley3. Prayers for a safe return. #findgary,” Shirley, 37, wrote on Instagram, tagging his wife and Tiger King alum Carole Baskin.
Amber, who shares son James, 4, with ex Andrew Glennon, moved on with Gary Wayt earlier this year after meeting on a dating app. They got engaged earlier this month.
“She’s really, really happy,” another source revealed. “The pair have already been working on building a solid foundation ahead of tying the knot. They’ve been in couple’s therapy and talk about everything. They’re being very proactive in their relationship and are doing the work to prevent problems before they start.”
Gary Wayt made his debut on Teen Mom: Next Chapter in the June 6 episode of the MTV series.
“This is my boyfriend,” Amber said during a cast Zoom call. “We are now officially a couple.”
Gary then replied, “Hello everybody. My name is actually Gary believe it or not.”
