Eminem Faces Criticism Over Megan Thee Stallion Lyric in New Song ‘Houdini’

Eminem is stirring controversy with a line from his latest track, “Houdini,” where he makes a reference to the 2020 shooting involving Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez.

In his newly released song, Eminem raps, “If I was to ask for Megan Thee / Stallion if she would collab with me / Would I really have a shot at a feat? / I don’t know but I’m glad to be.”

Critics swiftly took to social media to express their disapproval. One user wrote, “A white man dissing a black woman and talking about her getting shot. That’s digusting to hear.”

Another user remarked, “Eminem is just corny to me. And he’s even more corny now that he talked on a BW getting shot.”

One critic said, “Eminem really? Why did you do that to Megan? She is a black woman who got shot and your making fun of it. Gross.”

Another comment read, “White people who made fun of Megan getting shot is secretly racist. I said what I said!”

Music journalist Sowmya Krishnamurthy criticized Eminem as “out of touch,” questioning, “Being 51 years old and taking shots at Megan Thee Stallion?”

However, some defended the rapper, noting his history of calling out other artists in his music. “Eminem is bringing back real rap! I’m black and don’t see an issue with it. I love slim shady.” one user wrote in his defense.

One commenter said, “Y’all need to get a grip. Eminem didn’t mean it like that..”

Others speculated that Eminem’s lyrics might be a response to Megan’s previous mention of him in her song “Hiss,” where she referenced Mariah Carey’s diss track aimed at Eminem.

Eminem’s controversial lyric comes amid ongoing fallout from Tory Lanez’s conviction for his involvement in Megan Thee Stallion’s shooting incident in 2020. Tory was found guilty on multiple felony counts and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
