“This cherished home has been the heart of memories for our family for decades. Now, as we move forward, it is time for someone else to build their own memories here, just as we did.”

She also commended Sothebys Concierge, the auction management company, for facilitating the sale in a “certain, timely and efficient manner,” aligning with her goals.

Morgan emphasized the newfound freedom the sale brings, particularly in facilitating her Sonja In Your City Improv Comedy tour and allowing her to fully immerse herself in other creative pursuits. “I’ll always be a New Yorker at heart but to be able to travel freely without having to rent out our home is a weight lifted off my shoulders,” she stated.

Expressing her excitement for this new chapter, Sonja emphasized her commitment to personal growth and exploration, particularly as she embraces life as an empty nester following her daughter Quincy Adams Morgan’s departure for Los Angeles after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania last year.

Sonja and her ex-husband, John Morgan, purchased the 4,650-square-foot townhouse in 1998 for $9.1 million. After enduring a tumultuous divorce in 2006, Morgan continued residing in the townhouse, attempting to sell it in 2013 for $9.95 million. Despite various listing attempts and price adjustments over the years, the townhouse finally sold in an online auction for $4.45 million.

Throughout the years, the townhouse has served as a backdrop for numerous significant moments, from hosting heads of state and celebrities to filming scenes for Bravo and Peacock TV. The luxurious residence boasts impressive features such as a solarium with floor-to-ceiling windows, a courtyard with a fountain and koi pond, an apartment-style suite, and intricate custom woodwork, making it a coveted property on the Upper East Side.
