Soap Star Johnny Wactor Fatally Shot in Los Angeles While Interrupting Thieves

Johnny Wactor, known for his portrayal of Brando Corbin in the beloved ABC soap opera General Hospital, tragically died after being shot on Saturday.

Johnny Wactor, 37, known for his role as Brando Corbin on “General Hospital,” was fatally shot in downtown Los Angeles while attempting to stop a theft on Saturday, confirmed his agent and CNN affiliate KABC.

Johnny Wactor mother, Scarlett Wactor, confirmed his death to KABC. She recounted that her son was walking with a coworker after finishing his shift at a downtown rooftop bar when he noticed someone appearing to work on a car. Initially, Wactor believed his car was being towed and approached the individual to inquire. Instead, the person looked up and opened fire, Scarlett Wactor told KABC.

According to his mother, as Johnny Wactor approached his car, one of the masked suspects opened fire.

“Police told me Johnny did not do anything wrong,” she stated.

The suspects fled to an unknown location after the shooting. Johnny Wactor was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The incident occurred around 3:25 a.m. PT, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Tony Im. Im reported that three men were attempting to steal a catalytic converter when Johnny intervened. One of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot Wactor before the men fled in a vehicle. Johnny was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The LAPD did not officially confirm the victim as Johnny Wactor.

Johnny Wactor starred in “General Hospital” as Brando Corbin from 2020 to 2022, according to IMDB. His other acting credits include appearances on “Criminal Minds” and “Siberia.”

In a statement to ABC News, Scarlett Wactor described her son as “a beautiful soul.”

“There are not enough words to tell what a beautiful soul he was. He was a kind, loving son and brother, he lived life to the fullest. He set goals and went after them,” her statement read, adding, “There is a very large hole in our hearts and lives.”
