Tom Schwartz Criticizes Lala Kent, Claims She “Detracts” from the Authenticity of Vanderpump Rules!
Tom Schwartz has voiced concerns about Lala Kent’s approach to Vanderpump Rules, suggesting it might be affecting the show’s authenticity.
Schwartz shared his thoughts on a recent episode of the podcast “When Reality Hits With Jax and Brittany,” hosted by Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright, following the contentious finale of the show’s eleventh season.
In the episode, Schwartz reflected on a comment made by Lala Kent, who had criticized Ariana Madix for not engaging in a conversation with Tom Sandoval. Lala’s directive to “Show up, do your job” didn’t sit well with Schwartz.
“There’s no doubt about it, unequivocally, Lala f*cking does her job. But when I think about it like a job, it detracts away from the reality a bit. These are my friends. I love these people. I’ve grown up with these people,” he said.
“When you say it explicitly, when you start talking about, ‘Doing your job, show up, do the work’ … These aren’t storylines on a fictional TV show. This is my life. And I feel like it detracts from the authenticity.”
Schwartz conceded that while Lala’s points were “valid,” he supported Ariana’s decision to avoid the confrontation, feeling she had “earned” the right to make that choice. Amidst a filming pause that has raised questions about the future of Vanderpump Rules, Schwartz remains optimistic about the show’s direction.
“I think we needed to let the show breathe. I think we need a reset, and maybe I’m delusional, but I feel like we’re just getting started on a new era. I could be sorely mistaken. [But] I still think [Pump Rules] has a lot of life left in it,” he expressed.
Despite the show’s hiatus and fractured relationships among the cast, Schwartz revealed he remains in contact with all his co-stars, except for Ariana Madix. “I’m still blocked. Ariana, it’s time to unblock me,” he joked during the podcast.
At the reunion, Schwartz acknowledged the significant roles both Lala and Ariana played, saying, “Lala … Everybody brought it …. If I had to pick one person, I would say Lala and Ariana.”
