In a poignant moment from the May 19 episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After — Ed Brown faced the emotional task of saying goodbye to his partner Liz Woods’ daughter, Ryleigh, as they prepared to leave Arkansas for San Diego.

This goodbye was particularly significant following Liz Woods’ uncertainty about their relationship after their 15th breakup.

Ed requested a private moment with Ryleigh, expressing his feelings as they sat together on the couch. “Can I have a minute with Riley, please?” he asked Liz, who consented. As they sat down, Ed, visibly emotional, opened up to Ryleigh. “I just want to apologize. I’m not sure when I might get to see you again,” he confessed, to which Ryleigh responded warmly, “I accept your apology.”

The conversation took a heartfelt turn as Ed reassured her of his lasting affection, regardless of his tumultuous relationship with her mother. “No matter what happens between your mom and I, I’ll always love you. You know that, right? You’ll always be #1 at card games,” he told her. Ryleigh reciprocated his feelings, saying, “I love you,” a sentiment Ed echoed back before parting: “I love you, too. I just wanted to say bye.”

In a reflective confessional, Ed opened up about the close bond he had developed with Liz’s daughter, highlighting the playful and cherished moments they shared together. “We had that relationship, which was kind of cute. And that relationship I had with her was very special,” he admitted, fondly recalling times they would “be duking it out playing board games.”

Ed expressed his concerns about the potential impact their separations might have had on her. “So my fear is that this has negatively impacted Riley in any way, and that would just break my heart if it did,” he revealed. His emotional turmoil was evident as he lamented the departure of a significant young person in his life, adding, “So it’s very sad to see Riley go.”

During the episode, Liz shared her emotional struggle as she tried to maintain composure for her daughter Ryleigh amidst the turmoil of her breakup with Ed. The split came unexpectedly when Ed called off their wedding without her knowledge, leaving her to learn about the cancellation from the officiant.

Meanwhile, Ed shared his feelings on the separation from Liz after she and Ryleigh departed. Reflecting on the situation, he expressed a mixture of resignation and introspection.

“I’m just really numb, and I need to start my life over again, at 58,” he revealed, acknowledging the deep impact of the breakup. Despite the evident disappointment, Ed looked back on the relationship with a certain pragmatism, recognizing the effort both he and Liz had put into trying to make things work. “I’m disappointed, obviously, the amount of time that, you know, we both invested trying to make it work, but I don’t feel like I failed,” he stated. Ultimately, Ed concluded with a bittersweet realization: “I feel like we both dodged a bullet.”
