Katie Maloney Criticizes Lala for Sharing Private Gripe at ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Reunion
Katie Maloney addressed allegations made by Lala Kent during the first part of the Vanderpump Rules season 11 reunion on her Instagram Story. Lala had claimed that Katie felt abandoned by Ariana at their sandwich shop, Something About Her, and accused Ariana of being late on rent payments. In response, Katie posted,
“I’m someone who has suffered from imposters syndrome for as long as I have known myself. Hence why I was apprehensive about opening the sandwich shop on my own. So when Ariana was going through not only a world of hurt but also getting some amazing opportunities, that changed a lot of things during a pivotal time. I was extremely sensitive to what she was going through but also very supportive.”
Katie explained her feelings of being overwhelmed by the responsibilities of opening their restaurant, which led her to confide in Lala.
“I was dealing with immense insecurity about what I could take on and simply didn’t want to put that on her. I had an emotional response that didn’t feel appropriate bringing to her front door so I went to where I felt safe. Or where I thought I felt safe,” she continued. “Until I could find the appropriate conversation was to have with Ariana. Which of course I did. And we have had plenty of since.”
In another Instagram Story, Katie criticized Lala’s decision to share their private conversation publicly. “To know me is to know I value trust, loyalty[,] and integrity,” she said.
On the Vanderpump Rules After Show, Lala explained her perspective on their strained relationship.
“I think we were at odds because from my point of view, she was not very honest this season, and I don’t recognize that Katie. Like, the reason why she and I really freakin connect, is because we are no bullsh*t. You may not like what comes out of our mouths. It may be harsh or aggressive, but like, this is what it is,” Lala said.
She recalled a significant phone call involving Katie and a producer. “I remember the phone call well. It was a phone call between myself, Jeremiah [producer], and Katie. I thought that it was gonna be a great phone call,” Lala noted, adding, “but apparently, that day was opposite day, because the phone call sucked.”
Katie then explained her reluctance to confront others unless she feels genuinely upset at the time. “I remember the phone call well. It was a phone call between myself, Jeremiah [producer], and Katie. I thought that it was gonna be a great phone call,” but she clarified, “if I’m not genuinely upset with somebody, at that time, in the moment, I’m not going to get upset with them,” later on camera.
Lala also mentioned a conversation about the dynamics within their group. “We had talked about the group being like Bobbleheads, that Ariana and Tom [Sandoval] surround themselves with. And now, you’ve turned into one,” Lala quipped, pointing out a shift in Katie’s behavior.
