Court documents obtained by Starcasm provide detailed insights into the events leading up to the arrest. According to the criminal complaint filed in Williamson County, Texas, the arrest came after several weeks of growing tensions. Sophie and her roommate, Kaelin, told police that Claire had been living with them for the past three months. However, they asked her to leave the apartment on April 22, 2024, due to her increasingly aggressive behavior.

The conflict between Claire Cheshire, and her daughter Sophie continued to intensify after Claire was evicted from the apartment they shared. The situation worsened partly because of Claire’s financial troubles.

Sophie told police that despite sending her mother $3,000 after she moved out, Claire repeatedly contacted her demanding more money. According to the police complaint, Claire resorted to extreme measures to pressure her daughter.

“Claire was threatening Sophie with committing suicide if she didn’t send her the money,” the officer noted in the document. Additionally, one of the text messages from Claire to Sophie was particularly alarming: “Uber now I’m gonna come to your house and slit your fing throat f off.”

The situation between Claire Cheshire and her daughter Sophie escalated further when Sophie called the police on May 9, following a series of threatening text messages from Claire. This development came shortly after the text message conversation was publicly shared by Kiki and Kibbitz over the weekend, highlighting the severity of the threats.

According to the complaint, police had previously issued Claire a Criminal Trespass Warning on May 8, and subsequently applied for a warrant for her arrest on charges of Terroristic Threat Family Violence the next day, after she allegedly sent additional threatening messages.

When police arrived at Sophie’s apartment on May 9 in response to her call, Sophie provided them with all pertinent information, including the text messages that documented the threats. The complaint notes, “Sophie and Kaelin expressed concern and stated they were afraid and believed Claire is capable of doing what she said via text message.” The officers also noted that Claire was staying at a hotel just four minutes away from Sophie’s apartment, adding to their concerns.

Notably, the complaint does not mention Sophie’s husband, Rob Warne, suggesting he was not directly involved in the incident.

Sophie contacted the police on May 9 expressing concern for her mother, Claire, but it wasn’t until the next day that police arrested her. The delay was due to difficulties in communication between Claire and Sophie, which ultimately led the authorities to track Claire down.

Police responded to a welfare concern at the Extended Stay America hotel in Round Rock after Sophie reported she could not reach her mother, who had a history of suicide attempts. Upon locating Claire at the hotel, a Round Rock police officer arrested her based on a nonjurisdiction warrant.

Claire was taken into custody and booked into the Williamson County Jail with her bond set at $5,000. She has remained in jail for five nights so far. The only scheduled event in Claire’s court case is a “jail call” set for May 17.
