“I think it’ll be good to have a fresh start,” Jenelle expressed in the clip, signaling a new chapter in both her personal and professional life.

In a recent announcement from MTV, it has been revealed that Jenelle Evans, who was previously dismissed from the franchise five years ago due to her relationship with her now-estranged husband David Eason, will not be returning as a full-time cast member in the upcoming season of Teen Mom. Instead, Evans is set to make a “special appearance” in Season 2, focusing on the initial phase of her separation from Eason and embarking on “life-changing” new endeavors.

This update follows just one week after Jenelle fueled rumors of her return to Teen Mom during a reunion with fellow cast member, Briana Dejesus, in Florida. Captured in a photo, the two were seen strolling together in relaxed attire, amidst ongoing production of the enduring reality series.

Jenelle’s recent split from David Eason, 35, has not only marked a significant personal milestone but also paved the way for her return to the “Teen Mom” spotlight. Evans was dismissed from the MTV series in 2019 after Eason’s controversial actions, which included fatally shooting the family dog, led to his own firing the previous year due to a series of offensive tweets.

In March, Evans took to TikTok to announce her legal separation from Eason, with whom she shares her 7-year-old daughter, Ensley. The announcement was creatively paired with Lady Gaga’s hit “Applause,” underscoring the moment. “Can I get some appreciation? I filed for separation,” Evans shared in the post, accompanying it with the caption, “New Chapter Unlocked 🔒✨,” suggesting a fresh start and potentially teasing her upcoming role in “Teen Mom: The Next Chapter.”

Jenelle, a mother of three, has shed light on the procedural steps of her separation in a recent follow-up post. Evans, who has her 14-year-old son Jace with ex Andrew Lewis, and 9-year-old son Kaiser with former fiancée Nathan Griffith, explained that her residency in North Carolina influenced her decision to file for separation before an official divorce. According to state laws, couples must be legally separated for a year and maintain two distinct addresses before they can initiate divorce proceedings. This legal requirement has set the stage for Evans as she navigates this new chapter in her life.

Jenelle made a memorable solo appearance on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter during its debut season in 2022. This new series merged “Teen Mom OG” and “Teen Mom 2” into a single show. Her cameo occurred at a party hosted by her friend, Briana Dejesus, who is 29.

Jenelle, a longstanding figure in the MTV universe, first appeared on “16 & Pregnant” in 2010 during its second season before rising to fame with the “TM2” spinoff. Around the time of her cameo, it was reported that she was invited to rejoin the franchise full-time but ultimately declined the offer.

According to Jenelle’s manager, MTV’s offer to bring her back into the fold was tied to an exclusive contract that would have restricted her from pursuing other career ventures. This included a potential role in a “new dynamic series” that was ultimately not pursued.

Despite their paths diverging over the years, Jenelle’s former co-star, Leah Messer, expressed her support for Evans’ return to the franchise in a conversation with Page Six last year. “I think that I’m eager to see where she’s at in her life and whatever ultimately the executives decide is what they decide. I wish her the very best,” Messer remarked, showing a hopeful attitude towards the possibility of Evans’ return.

In a dynamic lineup for the upcoming season, “Teen Mom: The Next Chapter” will not only see the return of Jenelle but also reintroduces alum Mackenzie McKee to the cast for its second season. Alongside them, stalwarts Briana Dejesus, Leah Messer, Catelynn Lowell, Jade Cline, Cheyenne Floyd, Ashley Jones, Maci Bookout, and Amber Portwood are all set to make their return, ensuring a continuation of the deep, personal narratives that the series is known for.

Mark your calendars: Teen Mom: The Next Chapter Season 2 is slated to premiere on Monday, May 30, at 8 p.m. ET on MTV.
