Katie Maloney Opens Up About Falling Out with Brittany Cartwright!  

In Vanderpump Rules Season 11, Episode 13, a heated conversation between Katie Maloney and Jax Taylor, emerged regarding rumors of Jax cheating on Brittany Cartwright. However, the discussion also unveiled another source of tension, not between Katie and Jax, but rather between Katie and Brittany.

Jax took it upon himself to confront Katie on behalf of his then-wife, revealing that the two women were no longer friends. This revelation sparked further discussion about the strained relationship between Katie and Brittany, with both parties delving into the underlying issues during a subsequent episode of the Vanderpump Rules After Show.

On an April 23 episode of the Vanderpump Rules After Show Jax Taylor accused Katie Maloney of abandoning Brittany Cartwright following their absence from Stassi Schroeder and Beau Clark’s 2020 wedding in Italy. Jax claimed that Katie’s lack of response to Brittany’s attempts to communicate had deeply hurt her, given their close friendship. He suggested that Katie’s behavior was either due to her allegiance to Stassi or simply out of spite.

Katie defended her actions on the after show, explaining the situation from her perspective. She recounted that despite initial excitement and discussions about the wedding, Brittany  became increasingly evasive about the planning details. Katie described receiving a last-minute message from Brittany claiming they couldn’t attend because of passport issues, which Katie perceived as a string of excuses. Disappointed by what she saw as dishonesty, Katie expressed her frustration: “I just feel like there were so many lies, and I don’t like lies. I f-cking hate lies, man. Like, nothing more than that. So I’m just like, you know, I need a break … and also Jax has just been such a f-cking asshole to me for no reason.” This statement highlighted her reasons for distancing herself from Brittany, tying it also to her grievances with Jax’s behavior towards her.

Jax Taylor clarified that he and Brittany were not intentionally trying to miss Stassi Schroeder’s wedding in Italy. He explained that the plan was disrupted due to passport issues for their son, Cruz. “I wasn’t gonna go because my son didn’t have a passport. We thought we were gonna get the expedited passport for Cruz, it didn’t come in time,” Jax recounted. He suggested that Brittany attend with her mother instead, but further complications arose when a close family friend passed away, leading to their final decision not to attend. Despite this, Jax mentioned that he made a financial gesture: “I gave them $1,000,” indicating his attempt to show goodwill despite their absence.

Jax also addressed his own mishandling of the situation, admitting to his faults in communication and the repercussions that followed.

“Did I handle it wrong? Absolutely. I handled it completely wrong. And I apologize. I made a mistake,” he stated, expressing remorse over the incident. He also reflected on the impact on their friendships, questioning whether it was justifiable to end friendships over the incident: “Is it a reason to squash and ruin a whole friendship over? I don’t think so. I don’t know what else I can do.”

Katie Maloney expressed her initial intention for a temporary break from Brittany Cartwright, which later solidified into a more permanent decision due to perceived lack of support during a crucial time. Explaining her stance on the Vanderpump Rules After Show — Katie shared, “Brittany texted me once [and] asked me how the move was going, but never checked in on me, never once asked me anything” during her divorce from Tom Schwartz, leading her to conclude, “So I was like, you know, I’m good on you.”

Conversely, Lala Kent highlighted that Brittany did make an effort to reach out during Katie’s move, indicating a discrepancy in expectations and perceptions between the friends.

“She says Brittany hasn’t reached out and I’m like, she did reach out while you were moving and asked if you need help,” Lala explained. She further commented on the complexities of communicating with Katie: “You don’t get to decide how and when and what people say when they reach out. So it’s sometimes hard to gauge with Katie because you’re like, how do I approach this? Should I reach out? And if I reach out, is the timing OK? Is what I said OK? It becomes very intimidating.”

Brittany, reflecting on her once-close relationship with Katie, lamented the current distance between them, “Very intimidating,” she agreed, adding, “She was the matron of honor in my wedding. Like, I love her so much. I still have a lot of love for her. But it’s just crazy how we just don’t talk anymore.”
