Jeezy Seeking Full Custody of 2-Year-Old Daughter Amid Jeannie Mai Divorce!
Jeezy is seeking primary custody of the two-year-old daughter he shares with Jeannie Mai, as their bitter divorce moves forward.
On Wednesday, the musician filed a motion in a Fulton County Court to vacate the estranged couple’s current mediated agreement on custody and allowed time with the child, per court documents.
Jeezy, whose birth name is Jay Jenkins, alleged that he and the former “Real” personality struck a custody agreement for Monaco back in February. He now wants the toddler to live with him full time, because of Mai’s busy schedule.
Jeezy, 46, claimed that he offered to move into the basement of the marital home but Mai, 45, had since moved out of the house with their daughter. The rapper alleged that Monaco was being cared for by Mai’s brother and mother, asserting that his ex’s chaotic schedule was not healthy for their child.
He also claimed that Mai had refused to adhere to their custody agreement and had not allowed him parental time with his daughter, over the last two months. He stated his belief that Monaco would have a more stable daily life under his primary care.
Jeezy and Mai welcomed their daughter in January 2022.
Last November, Jeezy told the court that Mai was “gatekeeping” their child from him. He claimed in a filed motion that the “lack of consistency, continuity and stability inherently associated with such a haphazard and fluid parenting time schedule” had become “stressful” for his young daughter.
Mai denied the accusations, telling the court that she wanted to “foster an open, supportive and safe environment for both parents to actively participate” in Monaco’s life. She noted that a safe environment would include a commitment from her ex to store his firearms properly.
Documents obtained by the outlet in December read — “It is essential to clarify that Ms. Jenkins’ insistence on reasonable safety measures being put in place, such as safely securing and locking away all firearms that have been unsecure in the past, as well as having familiarity and properly trained caregivers is absolutely not gatekeeping, but rather a responsible effort to prioritize their daughter’s wellbeing.”
“These requests are grounded in Ms. Jenkins’ genuine concern for the parties’ daughter’s safety and security, especially when under the care of others and traveling across the country, and are reasonable protective measures, not an attempt to restrict Mr. Jenkins’ access to their daughter.”
Jeezy filed for divorce from Mai in September, after a two-year marriage.
An insider told Page Six at the time that the TV host was “devastated” over the breakup and wanted her “family unit back.”
Jeezy later revealed that the couple had tried therapy, without success. Mai implied that the four-time Grammy nominee had been unfaithful and asked a judge to toss their prenup, because she signed it without a thorough review due to time constraints.
