Pete Davidson Gives Away Close To a Million Dollars to Fired ‘Bupkis’ Cast

Pete Davidson reportedly passed out stacks of cash to the creators of “Bupkis,” after the “Saturday Night Live” alum’s departure led to the show’s cancellation, TMZ reports.

The comedian gave “hundreds of thousands” of dollars to the creators who crafted Season 1 of “Bupkis,” a half hour comedy series about Davidson’s life, insiders told the outlet. The sources explained that the cash handouts were his way thanking the artists for all their hard work.

Davidson handed out money “to just a handful of people,” who were “involved with Season 1, but who weren’t necessarily working on the now-dead second season,” a tipster told the outlet.

Davidson walked away from the Peacock series last month. The show, which co-starred Edie Falco and Joe Pesci, ran for eight episodes and was renewed for a second season in June 2023.

The streaming service canceled “Bupkis” after Davidson announced his exit.

In March, the 30-year-old comedian spoke to Variety about his decision to leave the series.

“I’ve always seen ‘Bupkis’ as a window into my life, since it is so personal and about my struggles and family,” Davidson said.

He added — “After nearly a decade of my personal life being in the media I wanted a chance to tell my story my way. Of all the work I’ve ever done, ‘Bupkis’ is by far what I’m most proud of.”

Davidson also expressed his thanks to “to Lorne Michaels and Broadway Video, Peacock, Universal Television and the amazing cast and writers for helping me create something honest, funny and heartfelt.”

“I do also feel that this part of my life is finished,” the “Meet Cute” star explained. “I’m very excited for this next chapter and for you guys to see the work. Thank you to all who support me for I am forever grateful.”

TMZ’s insiders also dished that Davidson was set to star alongside Eddie Murphy in an upcoming “huge blockbuster.”

Davidson made headlines back in September when he revealed that he had taken ketamine on a daily basis for four years before seeking help.

In September 2023, Davidson kicked off his Atlantic City, New Jersey comedy show with John Mulvaney and Jon Stewart by speaking out about his most recent stint in treatment.

“I am fresh out of rehab, everyone,” he told the crowd at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s Ettes Arena, per a People report. “I got that post-rehab glow. Seventh time’s the charm!”

Ketamine is used to treat depression, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency. The dissociative drug, which can also be used as an anesthetic, makes users feel detached from pain and can induce a feeling of sedation and amnesia.

“It was magical,” Davidson told his audience.

He told the crowd that he believed that he needed to outgrow his substance abuse issues, commenting — “You can’t do drugs in your 30s” because at that point “it’s not cute anymore” and “you’re just a drug addict.”
