In a candid mid-podcast moment, Tori Spelling reached out to Dean McDermott to break the news that she had filed for divorce.
During her podcast, Tori Spelling shared the moment she informed her estranged husband, Dean McDermott, of her decision to divorce.
The Beverly Hills 90210 alumna, 50, expressed her apprehension about delivering the news, especially since Dean was heading to work.
Tori, feeling remorseful, communicated to the 57-year-old former Chopped Canada host, “Oh, s–t. He’s at work right now. This sucks.” She continued, expressing regret for having to initiate such a conversation while he was busy with work commitments.
She informed him, “They’ve done it. It’s the formality. It’s just the one sheet you check off, and next you’ll have to sign it.”
In the podcast episode aired on Sunday, Tori didn’t broadcast Dean’s response, instead focusing on whether he had legal representation.
Tori questioned the narrative surrounding the divorce, pondering, “Wait, it’s gonna be spun what way? That I’ve had enough of you? What? What do you mean?” This led to a discussion about who had the prerogative to file for divorce first.
Reflecting on their past, Tori asserted her right to initiate the divorce, citing Dean’s public admissions to the Daily Mail about their issues, “In all honesty after this whole journey, if it’s about … who files first, the other person is wrong, I feel like I deserve to file first then.”
She ended the phone conversation with a simple “Love you.”

This candid revelation came just two days after her divorce filing became public and nine months following Dean’s announcement of their separation on Instagram.
Dean, who is now with Lily Calo, had previously opened up about their separation and his personal struggles earlier in May.
On her podcast “Misspelling,” Spelling discussed Dean’s “red flags” and regretted not exiting the marriage earlier.
Tori and Dean, who met in 2005 while each was in a different marriage, tied the knot in 2006 and share five children: Liam, 17, Stella, 15, Hattie, 12, Finn, 11, and Beau, 7.
