Caitlyn Jenner Wages War On Transgender Female Athletes!

Caitlyn Jenner threw her support behind a New York official who ordered the ban of female sports teams that allow transgender athletes from using county-owned facilities.

One hundred facilities in New York City’s Long Island suburbs fall under the ban. Jenner spoke out on the hot-button topic while visiting the office of Nassau County Executive, Bruce Blakeman.

The former Olympian asserted that allowing transgender female athletes to compete against biological females would “ruin women’s sports”

Jenner, who came out as transgender in 2015, proclaimed — “Let’s stop it now while we can.”

Long Island-based advocacy group, the LGBTQ Network, labeled Jenner’s remarks a “baffling contradiction” to her own identity as a transgender woman. The organization called her view “not only hypocritical but also harmful” to the LGBTQ community.

“It is disheartening to witness someone who has experienced the challenges of being marginalized actively contribute to the oppression of others within the same community,” David Kilmnick, the president of the advocacy group, said in a statement. “Such actions only serve to amplify the voices of intolerance and detract from the collective efforts towards a more inclusive society.”

In February, Blakeman issued an executive order that required sports teams, leagues, and organizations seeking a permit to use county parks and recreation departments to disclose if their groups are comprised of male, female or coed athletes.

Teams designated “female” will not be issued permits if transgender participants are allowed on their rosters. The ban covers all ballfields, basketball and tennis courts, swimming pools and ice rinks owned by Nassau County.

Jenner, 74, shared that while she sympathized with LGBTQ athletes and understood their “struggles,” allowing transgenders to compete with women would debase what female athletes gained under Title lX, a law that bans gender discrimination in any program that receives federal money.

Jenner, a Trump supporter, declared — “All I’m trying to do is protect women.”

Jenner, who earned the gold medal for the decathlon in the 1976 Olympic Games, has been outspoken in her opposition to transgender women competing on female sports teams.

Blakeman, a Republican, pointed out that the ban would promote fair play and protect girls and women from injuries. The executive order includes non-contact sports such as swimming, gymnastics, figure skating and track. The order also shifts decisions involving athletes from leagues to the government.

Local roller derby league, The Long Island Roller Rebels, asked a New York court to shut down the county order, claiming that the ban violated the state’s anti-discrimination laws. Meanwhile, the New York Civil Liberties Union called Jenner’s appearance “another disgraceful attempt” to disparage transgender women and girls. New York Attorney General, Letitia James, blasted the order as “transphobic and discriminatory,” and against state law.

Blakeman filed a lawsuit to request that a New York federal court declare the order legal.

Bills banning trans youth from joining female teams have passed in 24 states, but some are currently tied up in ongoing litigation.
