Karen Huger’s Maserati Engulfed in Flames After DUI Wreck, ‘RHOP’ Diva Rescued by Firefighters!
Karen Huger’s Maserati caught on fire after the reality star crashed her luxury vehicle into a tree, last week.
Firefighters had to use an extinguisher to put out a blaze after the Real Housewives of Potomac star lost control of her car, according to the incident report obtained by Radar Online.
Karen Huger Refused Breathalyzer
Last week, Huger was arrested by the Montgomery County Police Department after she refused to submit to a breathalyzer test. Huger’s 2017 Maserati crossed a median and collided with multiple street signs before smashing into a tree. She was later released, but the subsequent incident report revealed new details about the serious car accident.
“Crews located a single-vehicle collision. white sedan off the right side of the roadway. community security officer on scene,” the report read. The emergency responders “secured the vehicle and assisted” Huger as she exited the car before extinguishing a “small fire.”
The report stated — “Crews extinguished a small fire under the vehicle with a water extinguisher.”
The Bravo star was arrested after refusing the breathalyzer test and was later cited for driving under the influence.
Karen Huger’s Driver’s License Suspended
Huger’s driver’s license was suspended after the crash. She was charged with DUI and seven additional traffic citations related to claims of careless and reckless driving, exceeding speed limits, operating a vehicle with a suspended registration, and not reporting her address change to the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration.
Karen Huger’s Neighbors Are Pissed
Area residents told the outlet that Huger could’ve killed someone had she plowed across the neighborhood’s crosswalk earlier in the day.
Karen Huger Blames DUI On Dead Mother
Karen Huger later addressed the incident, but did not take responsibility for the DUI.
“Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes during this very frightening experience. I am still in shock from last nights incident, but grateful to be alive today. With the passing of my Beloved Mother, Grief comes and goes in waves, and with Mothers Day approaching it has felt more like a tsunami,” the reality star told TMZ.
She continued, explaining — ”Last night I met a girlfriend for dinner, we talked and brought up some very emotionally sensitive topics. I was crying on my way home and saw a car heading right for me. I swerved to avoid the head-on collision, hit the divider and then a tree. I’m hurt, bruised up a bit, but so grateful I am alive! I did receive citations, one of which was unrelated to the incident which is understandable, but what was most surprising is that the car that almost hit me just drove away!”
Huger wrapped her statement by advising the public to check their emotions before getting behind the wheel.
She concluded — “I would like to stress, it’s important to understand your emotional state when driving and may this be a reminder to all to use their seatbelts, my Mother may be my Guardian Angel but the seatbelt saved my life.”
