Shannon Beador Hit With $75K Lawsuit Over Facelift Loan By Ex-Boyfriend John Janssen

John Janssen is taking legal action against his former girlfriend, Shannon Beador, seeking $75,000 he claims to have loaned her for cosmetic surgery.

Documents reviewed by PEOPLE reveal that John, 61, initiated a lawsuit in the Orange County Superior Court, accusing the Real Housewives of Orange County celebrity of violating their verbal agreement and engaging in promissory fraud for allegedly deliberately failing to repay the borrowed funds.

According to the legal filing, John alleges he provided Shannon with a $40,000 wire transfer on January 23, 2022, specifically for a facelift procedure, followed by an additional loan of $35,000, delivered via personal check on May 20, 2023.

John and Shannon reportedly had an arrangement for the repayment of the $75,000 loan, with interest, that John provided for Shannon’s facelift. Despite John’s numerous requests for repayment throughout 2023 and 2024, he has now filed a lawsuit seeking not only the original sum but also accumulated interest, along with coverage for legal costs and attorney fees. Contrary to John’s claims, Shannon, 59, contends that the financial support she received was a gift, not a loan.

In a written statement to People, Shannon expressed her dismay over the lawsuit, stating:

“I am shocked and disappointed that John has filed a lawsuit. My attorney has been in constant communication with his counsel.” She further explained her willingness to settle the dispute out of court to avoid escalating legal expenses and emotional stress, saying, “I agreed to pay John what he wanted because I knew that attorneys fees would surpass the amount sought, but more importantly to eliminate the negative emotional components that come with a lawsuit.”

Shannon emphasized her desire to maintain positivity in her life and to move on from the situation, noting, “It is important that I continue to focus on the positive aspects of my life and move forward.” She also mentioned that John rejected her repayment offer because he was unwilling to agree to a mutual non-disparagement clause, adding, “I was hoping that if I met his baseless demand we could at least use this as an opportunity to bring complete closure to this chapter in my life.”

Edson K. McClellan of Rutan & Tucker LLP, representing John Janssen, has dismissed Shannon’s claim that the $75,000 was a gift, stating to Page Six,

“Ms. Beador’s defense that Mr. Janssen paid her the $75,000 as a ‘gift’ is completely meritless, which their e-mails and text messages will show.” McClellan conveyed Janssen’s disappointment over the need to pursue legal action, noting, “Mr. Janssen is saddened that Ms. Beador’s unwillingness to repay the loans made it necessary to file this lawsuit.”

The relationship between John and Shannon, which unfolded in front of Real Housewives of Orange County viewers, began in early 2019 but ended in November 2022, after the filming of Season 17. Their friendship deteriorated last fall, around the same time Shannon faced legal issues with a DUI and hit-and-run charges, and John grew closer to Shannon’s RHOC co-star, Alexis Bellino.

“John Janssen and I are two people who met by happenstance,” Alexis Bellino told Page Six exclusively in November 2022. “We are discovering that we’re in similar places in our lives, as divorced parents both emerging from recent heartbreak because of relationships ending.”

Alexis, 46, and her former fiancé, Andy Bohn, parted ways in September 2023, concluding their relationship nearly three years after Andy’s proposal. By December of the same year, the Real Housewives of Orange County alum and John were openly displaying affection for each other in public. This development in John and Alexis’ relationship was acknowledged by Shannon, who expressed that she was “hurt” by their newfound romance.

Shannon humorously commented on John romantic involvement with another Real Housewives of Orange County alum, asking E! News, “How many Orange County Housewives have there been?” and then playfully inquiring, “Is that your dating pool?”

Adding to the developments in John and Alexis’ relationship — John hinted earlier this month that an engagement might be on the horizon. Last Christmas, he made a significant gesture by purchasing a $16,000 promise ring for Alexis. Expressing his deep feelings for her, John told the outlet, “I cannot picture my life without her.”
