Mauricio Umansky Claps Back at Paris Hilton’s Critique Over Negative Comments About Her Father

Mauricio Umansky has addressed the drama with his niece, Paris Hilton, who ripped into the real estate mogul for bringing up his past feud with her father, Rick Hilton, in a recent episode of Buying Beverly Hills.

“Look, it’s sad that she got so upset about that, but at the end of the day, it’s two businessmen making two business decisions,” he told Entertainment Tonight.

He referenced his past conflict with Rick, the brother-in-law of his estranged wife, “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star, Kyle Richards.

“I felt like I deserved something. I asked for something, he didn’t want to do it, and then I chose to go off on my own,” he explained.

Mauricio continued — “I wanted to take care of my family, I wanted to be successful, I wanted to go forward, I wanted to do the most I could, and at the end of the day, I made that decision just to go forward with this thing. There is certainly no bad blood on my side.”

Last week, Paris, 43, took to social media to slam her uncle, writing—“My father is a consummate gentleman and has always taken the higher road. He would never speak negatively about his family-especially in the press.”

She added — “Frankly we are all sick of him using the Hilton name every chance he gets to plug his lame show. It is enough already.”

Mauricio, who left Rick’s real estate firm, Hilton & Hyland, over ten years ago, recalled how he fell out with Paris’ dad in a preview for his Netflix series.

“I think I got kind of f–ked by Hilton & Hyland,” he asserted in the sneak peek. “And when I say f–ked, you know, like, today I’m happy, but there was a hundred agents at Hilton & Hyland. They did a billion dollars for the first time a year. I was 19.6 percent of their production.”

The 53-year-old explained that he expected the promotion because he had produced big numbers for his brother-in-law’s real estate business.

“I went to Rick and I said, ‘I’d really like equity, right, and to be a partner,” he said, during a conversation with his co-workers.

He added that Rick, 68, turned him down after speaking to the firm’s co-founder, Jeff Hyland.

In 2011, Mauricio left Hilton & Hyland to launch his own company, The Agency, which became the subject of the reality series after skyrocketing to a top tier real estate firm.

Mauricio explained that he made the move after discussing the pros and cons with his wife, the younger sister of Rick’s wife, Kathy Hilton.

“‘This is really going to cause a lot of stress between you, your sister and your family, and I don’t want to do this move of leaving and starting a company if you’re not comfortable,’” he told Kyle, at the time.

He went on to say that his departure caused his relationship with Rick to “sour” and created problems within the family.

Kyle more than anybody,” he said in a confessional spot. “You know, her family stopped speaking to her. But she understood that what was done to me was wrong and she stood by me and, at the end of the day, I needed that.”
