Honey Boo Boo Blasts Mama June for Blowing Her College Fund on Husband’s Jewelry!

During the March 15th episode of Mama June: Family Crisis, Mama June Shannon made headlines when she declined to support her daughter, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, with her college expenses. This decision comes after the revelation that she had depleted much of her savings on her previous struggles with drug addiction.

“It would have been nice to have her help. I don’t know, it’s like she doesn’t believe in me,” Alana confessed while Mama June stood firm on showing her youngest daughter some “tough love”

Mama June’s tough stance on the matter was clear when she expressed her current inability to contribute to Alana’s tuition, despite her desire to rebuild her life.

“I’m not going to lie and sugarcoat s—,” she said, questioning Alana’s commitment to her education and suggesting that her daughter seriously consider the responsibility of pursuing higher education. This tough love approach sparked a heartfelt confession from Alana, who felt let down by her mother’s decision.

“It would have been nice to have her help. I don’t know, it’s like she doesn’t believe in me,” Alana confessed.

Mama June’s refusal to finance Alana’s college tuition underlines the complex dynamics of their relationship, further complicated by June’s past struggles and the ongoing process of mending their familial bonds. The episode reveals not only the financial hardships faced by the family but also the emotional challenges of navigating support, belief, and understanding within the framework of recovery and rebuilding.

Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird interjected into the conversation between Mama June and Alana regarding college tuition support. Lauryn highlighted that Alana would only require assistance with her first semester’s fees to commence her college journey. In response, Mama June pointed out Alana’s Coogan account, a mandated trust for child stars’ earnings, which Alana cannot access until she turns 21.

Alana then inquired if her mother could withdraw the funds on her behalf, to which Mama June admitted she lacked the necessary permissions to access the account but vowed to contact the bank for clarification.

The discussion took an emotional turn as Alana and Lauryn shared their suspicions that “Mama doesn’t want me to leave” for college. Their departure from Mama June’s home was clouded with doubts about her refusal to help, with Lauryn, 24, accusing her of “avoiding all motherly responsibilities for Alana.”

Reflecting on the conversation, Alana expressed her disappointment during the car ride home, lamenting, “Not even with a dollar.” She speculated on her mother’s priorities, suggesting, “Maybe she thinks that paying for [her husband] Justin’s chains or something is more important than giving it to me for college. She’s stingy when it comes to money.” This moment underscored the complexities of their family dynamics, revealing the financial and emotional challenges they face amidst aspirations for higher education and personal growth.

In a candid moment away from the main action, Alana, a notable figure from Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, shared her feelings with the cameras about her mother’s reluctance to provide financial support for her college education. Alana revealed that she wasn’t shocked by her mother’s stance, given her apparent disapproval of Alana’s decision to leave for college.

“It kind of just pisses me off because she can help everyone around her… but it’s just like when it comes to me it’s like ‘Well, Alana I can’t do nothing for you, I don’t have the money’ and she knows she’s got the money,” Alana expressed.

Alana further confided in Lauryn, expressing her disappointment and sense of neglect. “It would have been nice to have her help. I don’t know it’s like she doesn’t believe in me, for real,” she lamented, indicating a deeper emotional rift beyond the financial disagreement.

Meanwhile, Mama June opened up to Justin, her partner, about her tough stance during the confrontation with Alana and Lauryn. She justified her decision by emphasizing her ongoing efforts to rebuild her life, which influenced her to adopt a tough love approach. “I’m still rebuilding my life, that is why I have chose to give her some tough love and say ‘No, I’m not going to pay for college,'” Mama June explained, suggesting that her refusal was a lesson intended to help Alana grasp the “bigger picture.”

Mama June also clarified her financial management regarding Alana’s earnings, revealing that she had contributed 80% of Alana’s income from her work in California into a Coogan account for Alana’s future use. She pointed out that she was only legally obligated to save 20% of the earnings, implicitly defending her financial decisions and contributions towards Alana’s future.

During a deeper part of the dialogue, Mama June shared a significant revelation regarding the funds in Alana’s Coogan account, opening up about a deliberate deception she had maintained over the years.

“Truth to be known, Pumpkin may be mad and I’m sorry and the world may be mad and think that I’m the worst person ever,” Mama June prefaced her confession with an acknowledgment of the potential backlash. She continued, “I’ve lied to my children over the years. I’ve lied to them and told them that you can’t get your money until you’re 21 so they wouldn’t blow through it.”
