Nicole gave a nod to the conflict on Thursday, sharing a post clipped from the Musawah Movement Instagram account on her Instagram Story. The post referenced Policy Brief 8, an campaign that seeks to “end violence against women in Muslim families.”

The graphic, which was originally posted in November, was captioned — “Violence against women is a global phenomenon that cuts across all cultures, religions, countries, and contexts. Over one in three women experience physical or sexual violence at some point in their lives.”

The statement added — “Violence against women stems from patriarchal ideas, power imbalances, and sex and gender discrimination.”

The organization emphasized that the policy “goes more in-depth about the definition of violence against women and law reform progress that were made around the world.”

Nicole did not add any additional comments or contextual details to the original post.

Mahmoud was arrested on February 20, in Los Angeles. The Egypt native is set to appear in court in mid-March, per In Touch.

Nicole and Mahmoud’s story was featured during Season 4 of “90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way.” Nicole met her future husband as she browsed in a fabric store, where he worked at the time, during a trip to Egypt. The couple wed in two ceremonies after Nicole returned to Egypt. She subsequently struggled to adjust to life in Egypt and informed her husband that she wanted to move back to the United States, only two months later.

Nicole moved back to L.A. and asked Mahmoud for a divorce eleven months after the couple’s nuptials. She later changed her mind and returned to Egypt to try and work out their marital issues.

Mahmoud later agreed to move back to California with his American bride, a journey that will be documented in the upcoming cycle of “90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After.”

The 90 Day Fiancé spinoff series returns to TLC on March 17.

The network teased the storyline in an official press release that read — “After four years in Egypt, Nicole has returned to L.A. in hopes that she and Mahmoud can make a life together in America. As Nicole rediscovers herself in Los Angeles, how will Mahmoud cope with the huge cultural differences he’s about to face? Will they be able to find common ground or are their differences too much to overcome?”

Nicole and Mahmoud celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary on January 31, only weeks prior to Mahmoud’s arrest.

“Happy 5th anniversary to the love of my life! Words can’t express how grateful I am to have you by my side,” he wrote on Instagram at the time. “You bring joy, love, and laughter to my days, and I cherish every moment we spend together. Thank you for being my rock, my confidant, and my best friend. Here’s to many more years of love and happiness together. I love you endlessly, my beautiful wife.”
