Wendy Williams’ Ex-DJ Reveals Staff Was Unaware of the Full ‘Extent’ of Her Health Struggles

Wendy Williams’ former DJ is claiming that staffers operating behind the scenes at the “The Wendy Williams Show” did not realize the “extent” of her  health issues.

“I don’t think no one knew exactly to the extent how bad it was,” DJ Boof explained on “TMZ Live” Monday. “I felt like people knew something was up with her, but they didn’t really know.”

He continued — “I knew it because I’ve been around it. It’s sad to see something like that happen to her. She needs help.”

The 39-year-old revealed that he last spoke with Wendy about a month ago. He deduced from the conversation that individuals behind her court-ordered guardianship were “not letting [her family] know exactly what’s going on.”

Boof added—“I think, if you were to ask me, I think that Florida would be a better place for her, because that’s where her family is and she needs that 24-hour care.”

Boof shared that Wendy was “100 percent great” the last time the pair crossed paths in person.

“She was recovering … and she seemed to be doing great,” he said.

Boof’s remarks clashed with comments he made on social media, four years ago. He claimed at the time that the talk show’s employees were too “afraid” to voice their concerns about the host. He added that the dynamic was what led to his exit.

“Yup exactly and it will all come out..,” Boof told an Instagram user. “Y’all have no idea what’s really going on and everyone there is afraid to speak up because they don’t wanna lose their jobs.. this is going to play out bad.. I feel sorry for the workers and victims.”

Wendy’s team announced that the former daytime star had been diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, last week.

Wendy Williams’ son, Kevin Hunter Jr., confirmed that his mom’s condition was due to alcohol addiction in the new Lifetime documentary, Where is Wendy Williams?.

Hunter explained that alcoholism had damaged his mother’s “headspace and her brain.”

Hunter shared during Sunday’s episode — “I was able to really learn more about things going on with my mother internally.”

The 23-year-old continued — “[Doctors] basically said that because she was drinking so much, it was starting to affect her headspace and her brain. So, I think they said it was alcohol-induced dementia.”

Wendy thanked her fans for the outpouring of support after news of her diagnoses made headlines.

She said in a released statement — “The messages shared with me have touched me, reminding me of the power of unity and the need for compassion.”

Meanwhile, Wendy’s former attorney, LaShawn Thomas, suggested over the weekend that the star’s health drastically declined because she was forced into the guardianship. On Saturday, Thomas posted a throwback video on Instagram that featured her former client appearing healthy and chatting about her workouts.

She captioned the video, in part —“You can clearly see the difference between Wendy’s well-being during her time here in Florida with her son caring for her and her lack thereof in New York under this ‘guardianship.’”
