Bethenny Frankel Goes After ‘Diva’ Kelly Rowland Over ‘Today’ Show Dressing Room Drama!
Bethenny Frankel criticized Kelly Rowland for exhibiting “diva expectations,” following the singer’s departure from the Today Show over dressing room conditions.
“In my experience co-hosting with Hoda [Kotb], the makeup area for touch-ups often resembles a makeshift setup, essentially a black drop cloth,” shared the Real Housewives of New York City alum in a TikTok video that has since been removed.
“The dressing rooms are incredibly small, practically forcing you and your team into a cramped space. Despite that, the opportunity fills you with excitement and gratitude,” she added, highlighting a contrast in attitude towards the accommodations provided by the show.
Bethenny Frankel further commented, “You’re co-hosting on the ‘Today’ show, an institution in entertainment, a news organization that isn’t focused on providing luxurious dressing rooms.”
The reality star acknowledged that the makeup area on the morning show “is completely communal,” and that the food might not meet high expectations, yet she emphasized that appearing on the show, particularly alongside Today host, Hoda Kotb, should be regarded as “an honor.”
“That was not the moment for diva expectations,” she concluded, critiquing the attitude towards the show’s behind-the-scenes arrangements.
Bethenny’s remarks were made in response to an exclusive report by Page Six, which revealed that Kelly Rowland, aged 43, unexpectedly withdrew from her guest-hosting role on “Today with Hoda & Jenna” on Thursday, citing dissatisfaction with the standards of her dressing room.
“Kelly and her team were not happy. They did not like the dressing room, so they decided to pull her off the show, leaving [Kotb] without a guest host for the 10 a.m. hour,” a source previously told us.
The departure of the Destiny’s Child singer from the show left insiders at “Today” perplexed, as “She’s beloved at ‘Today.’ She was getting the full hour, and Hoda’s the biggest hype woman on the planet! It made no sense.”
Bethenny’s team reportedly sought a different green room upstairs, dissatisfied with their current assignment. Unfortunately, the requested space was already in use by Jennifer Lopez, who was on-site promoting her latest album, “This Is Me… Now,” along with her film project, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told.”
Following the “Dilemma,” singer’s decision to opt out of co-hosting, Rita Ora stepped in to take her place.
The 33-year-old British singer verified that her co-hosting opportunity came about abruptly after Rowland exited the set.
“Well, this happened!” Ora shared on Instagram Friday, accompanying her post with a collection of photos and videos of her time co-hosting with Kotb, 59.
“We had two minutes to prepare ahhh, thank you @hodaandjenna for asking me to co-host the show…”
