Travis Kelce Screamed and Berated His Coach Andy Reid Mid-Super Bowl After Chiefs Fumble

Travis Kelce expressed significant frustration towards Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid following a mishandled play in the first half of the Super Bowl Sunday in 2024.

Following a crucial missed pass from quarterback Patrick MahomesTravis Kelce approached Reid, insisting on being included in the game to turn the tide for the Chiefs.

During his outburst, Travis was restrained by teammate Jerick McKinnon, who promptly intervened, pulling him away from the 65-year-old coach, Reid.

Subsequently, cameras captured Travis sitting quietly on the bench at Allegiant Stadium. The specifics of Kelce’s shouted remarks remain uncertain, although a broadcaster suggested that he was urging Reid to “keep me in.”

“After the fumble, he [Kelce] comes over to Andy, he goes, ‘Keep me in!’ What happened is, on the fumble, he was not in the game Noah Gray went in … I think Kelce knows he’s like, ‘Just keep me in there!’” one of the sports broadcasters theorized.

Since 2013, Travis Kelce and Reid have maintained a professional relationship, beginning when Travis was drafted by the Chiefs and Reid assumed the role of head coach. Kelce’s display of frustration occurred as the Kansas City Chiefs sought to secure their fourth Super Bowl title, competing against the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas.

Members of Travis’ close-knit group, including his girlfriend Taylor Swift, witnessed the confrontation from the comfort of a VIP suite, where they had gathered to support him. The 34-year-old singer of “Cruel Summer” was accompanied by friends Blake Lively, Lana Del Rey, Ice Spice, and Ashley Avignone to witness the eagerly awaited game.

In the same suite, Travis’ mother, Donna Kelce, along with his brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Kylie Kelce, were also present to show their support. Swift made her way to Vegas just hours following her Eras Tour concert in Tokyo, Japan, showcasing her commitment by attending the game the very next night.

They were not shy about displaying affection publicly, sharing a moment of PDA and declaring their love for each other following the Chiefs’ victory in the AFC Championship on January 28.

Ultimately, the Kansas City Chiefs secured a victory, yet Travis found himself compelled to address his earlier actions following backlash from fans.

“Oh you guys saw that? Man, it was…I’m going to keep that between us unless my miked-up tells the world, but I was just telling him how much I love him.” Travis told reporters.

Both Andy and Travis spoke out about the shove following the game, with Andy explaining:

“The part I love is he loves to play the game, and he wants to help his team win. It’s not a selfish thing, that’s not what it is, and I understand that. And so as much as, you know, he bumps into me, I get after him. And we understand that. He just caught me off balance.”

In another interview, the coach also joked, “He keeps me young. Tested that hip out. He caught me off balance, normally I’d give him a little bit, but I didn’t have any feet under me.”
