1000-Lb. Sisters: Tammy Slaton’s Husband Caleb Willingham’s SHOCKING Cause of Death Revealed
1000-Lb Sisters star, Tammy Slaton’s late husband, Caleb Willingham, died of complications due to super morbid obesity, Radar Online reports.
Caleb Willingham passed away at Gibsonburg, Ohio rehab facility, Windsor Lane Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, in June. The 40-year-old was pronounced dead on June 30, 2023 after “life-saving measures with unsuccessful results” were administered, per Radar.
Caleb’s body was transported to the coroner’s office where an autopsy was performed, despite the forensic investigator determining that his death was “natural,” due to a “medical issue.”
Caleb’s brother confirmed his sibling’s passing on Facebook, writing — “I can’t believe I’m even making this post, but today GOD called my big brother home. R.I.P. Caleb Willingham aka Killla K aka Double K aka one-half of the dynamic WWF tag team champions The W Boys aka my biggest supporter in anything I do. You will be forever loved and missed. Until we meet again.”
A rep from the medical examiner’s office confirmed that they were waiting for toxicology test results from the completed autopsy in order to determine the actual cause of death.
“Medical staff were on-scene with the patient when he became unresponsive,” the police report stated. “During this Officer’s involvement with the incident, there were no indications of any criminal activity. This death investigation is concluded by this department.”
Caleb and Tammy met amid their respective weight loss journeys and tied the knot at the rehab center in November 2022, in a ceremony featured on the TLC reality series.
The Lucas County Coroner’s Office’s case summary revealed that Caleb had had a large globoid heart and enlarged cardiomyocytes with patchy interstitial fibrosis. Caleb’s left lung was collapsed and the right was partially inflated. The autopsy also revealed a large fatty liver and mucus-filled bronchi.
Caleb had Hydrocodone in his system when he died, an opioid used to treat pain and coughs, according to a forensic toxicology report.
Caleb and Tammy were reportedly headed for divorce at the time of his death, but Tammy expressed affection for her deceased husband in an interview with People.
She told the outlet — “He was my best friend and I loved him dearly.”
“I’m having stages of grief. Yeah, we were having problems, but I loved that man. I still do,” the TLC star added. ”I miss him like crazy, but I wanted to thank everybody for your comments. I appreciate them, I really do.”
Tammy, 36, reportedly decided to part ways with her husband because he lacked commitment to his weight loss program. A source told the U.S. Sun that the dynamic played a significant role in their separation.
In August, an insider claimed that Tammy had been slamming TLC for portraying her late husband’s funeral in a way that was “completely not natural” for 1000-lb Sisters.
