1000-Lb. Sisters: Amy Slaton Finalizes Divorce From Michael Halterman

1000-Lb Sisters star, Amy Slaton, officially ended her marriage with ex-husband, Michael Halterman, on the season finale of the TLC show.

Amy showed her YouTube followers her divorce papers during the February 6 episode, declaring — “I signed the final documents and that’s the end of an era.”

She added — “I’m ready for it to be over with.”

Amy told cameras that her divorce hadn’t “fully sunk in,” but added that she was ready to be the “best mom” to the two boys she shares with her ex, Gage and Glenn.

“Even though the divorce was shorter than expected, like, less than six months, it took a mental toll on my body and a physical toll on me that I’m seeking help for,” she continued. “Michael and me are sharing custody. I get the boys 70% of the time, Michael gets ‘em 30.”

Amy explained that she was keeping the house, and her ex had taken the TV, one of the cars and the “f–king lawnmower.”

The TLC star told followers — “Amy’s single, bitches, but she ain’t ready to mingle. Don’t call me, don’t show up at my house either, OK?”

Amy and Michael tied the knot in 2019 and separated less than four years later, in February 2023. TLC followed the couple’s split during the fifth season of 1000-Lb Sisters.

Amy had been open about her struggle prior to the split, as a mom of two young children and caregiver to her sister, Tammy Slaton. She asserted that her husband was not adequately helping out with their children.

“There are sometimes I want to pull my hair out. I got so much on my plate, I got mom, I got the boys. I got Tammy, she’s coming home. It’s like how do you do all these things?” she ranted to Michael during the December 11 episode.

The mill operator nodded and replied, “I don’t know.”

Amy shared a concern over navigating her busy life while caring for her sister, who was set to return home after a lengthy stint in a weight loss facility.

“I have no support,” the YouTube personality said before dissolving into tears. “I’ve tried to get stuff ready for Tammy, trying to chase after the boys, trying to chase after Michael, it’s just a lot.”

Court documents obtained by the U.S. Sun revealed that Michael filed for dissolution of marriage in March, 2023. A source told the outlet that the pair had been secretly arguing for months. A “1000-Lb. Sisters” insider claimed that Amy wanted her boys to continue to appear on the show, but Michael was against it.

Michael doesn’t want the kids to be on the show, but Amy disagrees,” the source said.

Amy and the estranged couple’s two sons reportedly moved out of the marital home and in with Tammy, prior to Michael’s filing.

Amy says Michael is lazy and has been jealous of her attention toward the kids,” a source told the outlet last February. “They’ve been having trouble since last year.”
