RECAP: ‘Married To Medicine’ Sweet Tea GOES OFF On Dr. Jackie ‘F*ck You!’
Need another dose of Married to Medicine? Lucky for you, the doctor’s in and the tea is warming up just for you! Cecil Whitmore’s ready to hit the road, as Simone Whitmore completes her charts before embarking on another couples trip. The pair can’t wait to celebrate ten years of friendship with the group and producers show us a flashback of the crew over the years.
Cecil knows the trip won’t be easy but the Whitmore’s love a challenge! The crew begins to arrive, except Phaedra Parks, Dr. Heavenly Kimes, Dr. Damon Kimes, Dr. Jackie Walters, and Curtis Walters. Cecil’s excited to head to Hilton Head (since it’s more scenic) as Dr. Kema & Dr. Alicia arrive.
Dr. Eugene Harris points out the color coordination of Dr. Gregory Lunceford and Lateasha Lunceford and the crew admire the newlyweds. After twenty-seven years, Cecil and Simone don’t match anymore, however in their confessional, producers point out their matching attire. As the crew chats in the kitchen, Kema asks for a paper plate and Simone takes this time to jokingly asks “Kema, Would you like me to fix you a plate?” Kema replies “No, no, no” but Simone continues with “Is there anything I can get for you? Men are first in this house.” Alicia stands pensively as Kema responds “Music to my ears.” Lateasha’s says, “Are you saying that Alicia can learn a thing or two?” as Eugene soaks up the drama.
Kema clarifies that Alicia already understands that and says, “She’s already trained up right” and Alicia seems surprised. The group laugh as Eugene questions how long a man will keep a wife if he has to “train her up” while Cecil puts the untrained women well above the trained girls. Simone loudly questions where everyone else is, but Toya believes the rest of the ladies are late because they require the most make up. The crew ohh and aww as Simone calls Heavenly to see what’s up. Simone’s in good spirits until she hears that Heavenly’s not coming on the trip.
Toya says “Aw, ok” as Simone asks more questions to see what’s wrong. Heavenly doesn’t like the trip and explains Curtis isn’t feeling the trip. Toya tries to joke and play it off but Heavenly’s sticking by Jackie. Eugene thinks it’s rude to back out at the last minute and Simone understands Curtis and Jackie are worried as a couple. Simone reiterates that Jackie believes the group would open old wounds and decides to call Jackie to clear things up. Once on the line, Simone tells Jackie about Heavenly’s nasty demeanor, and that Curtis isn’t coming.
Simone tells Jackie she assumed she isn’t coming either and Jackie confirms! “Yea, he is um, he said he just didn’t want to go back down visiting those doors we closed. So…” Jackie says before Toya interrupts asks Jackie whose opening that door? Jackie replies “I hope nobody” as Toya tries to ensure Jackie that everything is a done deal. Toya says “Let’s go” but Jackie’s not sure and tells the group to go ahead. Toya tries to say something else, but Jackie cuts her off by saying she doesn’t want to talk. Toya backs up and tells Jackie she’ll say a prayer for her in the car and Jackie’s crying while saying “Alright, I’ll call you back.”
Simone apologizes to Jackie again while Toya asks if Jackie wants the girls to call Curtis. Jackie tells them not to before Toya suggest the men call but Simone hangs up. Gregory understands Curtis doing what’s best for his family as Cecil repeatedly says “We don’t do that” next to Eugene. Cecil tells the group that Curtis has the right to change his mind and now Simone’s feeling horrible about her destination choice. Simone lets the group know they’ll let Jackie and Curtis figure it out but in the meantime, it’s time to begin loading up for Hilton Head! As the couples head out the door, Phaedra arrives late, and Toya immediately asks where’s her man.
Phaedra’s not paying Toya no mind as the crew board the bus and check out the decorations. Toya wants Phaedra to take a shot and when Phaedra declines, Toya threatens to put a shot in her rectum! The bus is stunned as Phaedra suggest Toya take a gummy as Phaedra educates the group on rectum absorption. Eugene verifies that information while letting the crew know about his medical study, where a guy apparently would use sex toys (laced with cocaine) to pleasure himself. Unfortunately, the man used a huge sex toy and ended up overdosing on the substances inserted into his rectum. The group’s all ears at “Super Big Fred’s” pathology case and Eugene warns against putting things in your butt.
With four and a half hours to Hilton Head, Simone explains that she and Cecil have an amazing trip planned for everyone, but the only negative aspect is that Heavenly and Jackie won’t be coming. Phaedra wants to know the tea and Eugene lets everyone know that Heavenly isn’t coming unless Jackie and Curtis are on board. Toya’s annoyed at the high school drama but Eugene’s not surprised. Toya and Eugene point out that they’re not attacking anyone’s marriages but the only person who did was Heavenly in Barbados. Toya wonders if Curtis doesn’t want to mess with the wives and before the group can go down the rabbit hole; Cecil gets up to get everyone shots.
Everyone drinks to ten years and Toya’s clumsy self-spills her shot on Phaedra. One hour to go, Simone drunkly asks the ladies what the men should do to kick this trip off like a dream and Lateasha replies “Book the next one” as she gives Simone a high-five. Simone asks what three things the group does before the kids are put to bed. Toya answers to brush their teeth among other things before asking what are the three things to do before putting Kema to bed. Everyone laughs as Alicia answers, “Home cooked meal, not oral but sex” and Simone asks if Kema’s a mama’s boy.
Simone thinks Kema’s mama babied him too much and Lateasha asks if Kema likes to go down on her as Toya calls him an a**hole in the back. Kema lets the group know they don’t do all of that and Lateasha asks more questions. Kema’s culture doesn’t believe in oral sex but Phaedra’s quick to point out the Nigerian she dated did. Kema explains oral sex in African culture is taboo and if Alicia’s interested in it then he might consider. Alicia verifies Kema can get down there more as Cecil shuts down the games. Arriving at the Hilton Head vacation home, the crew take in the sights as Toya questions the placement of the pool. Inside, a chef has drinks and food on deck as Cecil and Simone explain they’re going big or going home.
The chef explains the menu for the day as the crew take a drink to relax. Toya asks about the rooms and Simone lets the group know there’s a master on the main floor, and another bedroom upstairs. Simone tells Toya she can go upstairs to look around and before we know it Alicia and Toya are running upstairs to claim the best room. Simone’s not surprised as production shows us all the times the group has fought over accommodations. Cecil admits the newbies don’t get the best rooms as Toya locks Alicia out of a bedroom. Phaedra gets the fellas to carry her luggage upstairs and doesn’t feel bad letting them pamper her.
Alicia tells Phaedra that Kema just told her she needs to go to Phaedra University. Phaedra asks why before answering her own question regarding traditional gender roles and Alicia seems eager for any pointers Phaedra can provide. Alicia begins hoping and asking Phaedra for help to be more feminine and admits not asking for help. Phaedra tells Alicia to call Kema strong and Kema’s eating it all up! Alicia reiterates being independent and that Kema only thinks he’s in control. Kema begins running his mouth about women making men feel needed, before going on a rant about women being tough.
“I’m a man too! Who wants to help you?” Kema says and Toya’s heard enough! “I’ve never said I’m half a man to my husband” Toya says and Kema responds “Good.” Toya admits she may give off BDE but she’s all vagina as Eugene confirms. Simone gathers the crew for dinner and once outside Phaedra notices the neighbors are too close, so that means no skinny dipping. The food looks amazing as Eugene nicknames a runaway crab after Toya, and a car pulls up with Curtis, Jackie, Damon, and Heavenly inside. Curtis sighs as they get out and the group is surprised by their arrival.
Jackie says “Hey,” and after the shock wears off, Simone hugs Jackie and tells Curtis she has his back. Cecil knew they were coming the whole time, but Dr. G questions what makes them so special that they couldn’t travel with the rest of them? Eugene hopes they didn’t fly there and Phaedra thanks God everyone made it. Curtis hugs his friends as Jackie and Curtis explain they weighted the good with the bad and Curtis ultimately decided not to make the trip about him. Cecil goes to get Simone a drink and Lateasha asks if Cecil can bring back some, but Toya jumps in that if she asks Gregory nicely, he might get it for her.
Toya tells the table about Phaedra teaching the ladies how to get men to do what they want, and Jackie looks disinterested as Sweet Tea asks Greg if he wants something to drink. Greg says, “Not right now” and the ladies bust out laughing while Toya tells Phaedra to show her how it’s done. Heavenly ask what she missed and Toya jokes by saying the group talked about Heavenly like a dog. Heavenly not catching on ask why and Toya plays along by telling Heavenly she hasn’t been a good friend to them. Five hours earlier, Toya asks Simone if she thinks Heavenly not being there is shady or trifling?
Simone doesn’t answer but Heavenly lets everyone know she was being a good friend to someone who needed her. Heavenly makes it clear again that she told Simone she wouldn’t come to Hilton Head if Jackie wasn’t okay with it. Toya ask Heavenly why she would leave the rest of them like that and Heavenly replies she thinks it’s f***ed up to travel there. Jackie sits silently as Toya’s grateful everyone arrived safely but wished everyone could’ve came together as a group.
Cecil tries to cool things off by saying “We made it, We made it though” but Toya’s not done talking. Continuing, Toya admits it left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth by Heavenly excluding herself based on Curtis and Jackie’s decision. Toya thought things were going so good but once again here goes Heavenly starting mess! Toya holds Curtis accountable for cheating on Jackie but admits their situation wasn’t that important to commit it to memory. Toya tells the table they weren’t going to bring anything up but now everything’s on the table. Jackie finally speaks up and says “We can leave it there,” but Lateasha has other plans.
Speaking up, Lateasha feels like the group discussed Quad Webb around her and she didn’t think that was fair. Lateasha believes it’s hypocritical to laugh at her struggles, while deflecting from their issues. A flashback shows Jackie at Lateasha’s bridal shower, asking questions about the woman Greg was caught in the hotel with. Curtis says nothing as Jackie ask Lateasha “Do you want me to feel uncomfortable?” Lateasha replies “No, but I do think you should be in the hot seat.” The crew look on as Jackie responds that she’s in the hot seat every day she goes to work and that she’s well equipped to handle it.
Jackie goes on a rant about each “hot seat” scenario as Heavenly says “Preach on.” Lateasha listens as Jackie tells her she’s always in the hot seat and to bring it! Lateasha says “Okay, okay” as the crew begin clapping as food comes out. Cecil gets where Lateasha’s coming from and Simone can tell Lateasha came with a chip on her shoulder. Greg speaks up and says it’s all fun and games until it happens to you as Lateasha says “Right.” Curtis gets loud and tells everyone the trip is not about airing dirty laundry on anyone and that he came to have a good time with his friends.
Curtis threatens to leave if things don’t turn around, as Alicia and Kema come back to the table. Lateasha and Greg don’t think it’s fair that Jackie and Curtis deflect when they’re uncomfortable and doesn’t respect them as the matriarchs of the group. Cecil speaks up that they didn’t think about Hilton Head and that he wouldn’t plan something that his friends wouldn’t want to do.
Simone addresses the Walters and makes it clear that no one else at the table matters to her. Heavenly catches the stray as Simone refutes the accusation of trying to reopen a wound, while giving Jackie and Curtis their props for keeping her and Cecil together.
Cecil clarifies he and Simone been together for twenty-seven years as Simone goes off on Heavenly in her confessional. Heavenly joins in and tells Simone they addressed the problem with her, and she still didn’t change the location. Heavenly never said Simone did it on purpose and Simone yells “Nobody’s talking to you!” and Heavenly threatens to leave right f***ing now! Heavenly and Simone curse each other out as the group tries to settle everyone down as the neighbors begin recording the altercation. Eugene jokes that the good white people are going to kick them out and Cecil decides to take the group upstairs.
As the neighbors begin to complain, Lateasha knows these people ain’t never seen no crazy stuff like this and is beginning to feel embarrassed. Kema checks in on Simone as she grabs food, but Simone’s still heated and doesn’t like people coming for her when they don’t know the truth. Kema tells Simone they’re some strong women and Simone tells Kema that Heavenly takes things too far. Upstairs, Jackie is putting positive energy into Heavenly as Heavenly tells Jackie she won’t do anything as Phaedra calls on reiki healing.
Heavenly mentions needing some of Phaedra’s calming spray and Phaedra mentions in her confessional that she see’s exactly what Jackie’s doing. Phaedra knows Jackie got Heavenly to do her dirty work and to get into Simone’s a** as Heavenly tells Jackie to spray her “lying a** friend.” Curtis tells the group how grown and intelligent they are before letting everyone they have other things they’re working on. Curtis doesn’t remember how long it’s even been and Eugene questions if it’s not the place, is it the people that’s bothering him? Eugene questions if they trust the group that they wouldn’t sh** on them but before Curtis answers, Jackie challenges Eugene to put himself in their shoes.
A flashback to last week shows the conversation Curtis and Jackie had regarding Hilton Head and Jackie tells everyone to stop being selfish and maybe they’ll understand. Lateasha’s not here for the BS and tells Curtis that Jackie made fun of her private situation. Toya tries to calm Lateasha down, but Lateasha wants her time to speak because no one cared about how she felt! Cecil throws his head back as Lateasha brings up Jackie’s comment about Greg and the lady at the hotel, possibly crashing Lateasha’s bachelorette party. Lateasha questions why she should be empathetic to Jackie’s situation and Jackie gets loud and replies “You don’t have to baby girl! Just say anything you want to say, get it out!”
“I want to hear what you have to say” Jackie snidely says as Lateasha fires back with “F*** YOU! B****!” and Jackie responds, “Thank you” with a smile as Toya says “Damn, Okay.” Phaedra compares Jackie to Sweet Tea’s mama and doesn’t think she should be speaking to Jackie that way. Heavenly says “Now wait a minute” as Cecil throws his hands up “The trip was going in the right direction, then everyone jumped in!” In Heavenly’s confessional, she mentions Lateasha being okay with Phaedra having sex with Gregory but having a problem with Jackie joking.
Jackie says she’ll handle “baby girl” later and Lateasha tells her she doesn’t need any handling. Jackie disagrees while trying to change the subject as Eugene laughs on the couch. Greg chimes in that Lateasha’s love language is strong and urges Jackie to lay off her because he doesn’t want to let her go. Jackie tells Greg she’s happy for him as Heavenly mentions seeing worst, and that Quad was a lot worst. Simone thanks everyone for dinner and sends them to bed while Simone thanks Kema for helping clean up. Eugene jokes that the women should be barefoot in the kitchen as Simone hugs Jackie and Cecil before saying goodnight.
Simone knows although Jackie’s smiling that she’s reverted into a shell and may not come out for the rest of the trip. Simone hopes Sweet Tea will apologize to Jackie in order for the trip to continue and Greg checks in on Lateasha after the outburst. Lateasha admits she still has a lot of feelings harbored up and that she can only take so much. Lateasha begins crying while telling Greg she’s tired but she’s trying to protect him. Greg consoles Lateasha as she continues venting to her man. It’s been hard for Lateasha to adapt to the group due to the age difference but Greg wonders when things went wrong.
Lateasha tells Greg they’re getting under her skin on purpose and although she’s trying to avoid confrontation; but it’s a lot. Greg thinks it was an interesting approach to handle things and Lateasha tells Greg she’ll talk to Jackie later and tell her how she feels.
The next morning, Alicia’s helping Phaedra with her hair as Heavenly and Damon check in on Alaura. Simone’s getting her make up done as Cecil reviews the itinerary for the day. Lateasha regrets how she acted last night and apologizes to Greg as he lets her know he has her back, but to respond better next time.
Greg doesn’t want to see Lateasha get that angry and hopes never to see it again. Lateasha was hoping to get some “Get back” but Greg wonders if it’s satisfying. Lateasha thinks it is and Greg wants to move on while kissing her forehead.
Eugene’s cooking eggs as Kema joins him and the two discuss the drama from last night. Kema has to get used to the ladies, but Eugene admits the women can go low. Eugene thinks Toya handled her conflicts with justifiable ammunition as a flashback shows Toya through the years.
Toya thinks she handled the ladies with grace as Kema makes rum punch as Toya and Alicia come downstairs. Toya ask how Alicia and Kema slept and although Toya slept like a baby, Alicia’s back hurts from the restless night. Alicia and Kema rubbed each other down to get the aches out and Eugene’s happy they didn’t overhear their massage session. Alicia jokes that she’s glad she didn’t hear their headboard and soon they’re laughing while discussing potential sex in the house. Toya had to calm her nerves after last night and Eugene mentions Greg being more upset than he showed.
Toya thinks Greg is mad at Lateasha for her outburst and admits Lateasha told her Greg doesn’t want her calling “That old lady a b****.” Eugene mentions Jackie not calling Lateasha little baby either while reiterating what Jackie said. Heavenly pulls Simone to the side to talk and Simone admits Heavenly hurt her feelings last night. Heavenly’s was also hurt last night but apologizes to Simone for cursing her out and responding incorrectly. Simone accepts Heavenly apology as Heavenly reflects on Jackie’s teachings in her confessional. Simone calls a meeting in the ladies room as Heavenly and Simone let Jackie know they’re on good terms.
Heavenly jokes on Simone’s shorts as Cecil gathers the fellas downstairs to go cook. The ladies board the sprinter van to play golf as Simone explains this time the ladies are switching roles with the men. Alicia ask who plays golf and Simone thinks Phaedra’s downplaying her golfing abilities based on her wardrobe. Jackie compliments Phaedra’s ability to make an outfit slay as the fellas joke on each other’s cooking abilities. Cecil tells Kema that Simone talked him into it and before Kema could mention “cooking being a woman’s job”, Eugene jumps in to point out that chefs are both male and female. “Good food is good food” Eugene says but of course Kema doesn’t see it that way and even admits his father would’ve kicked him out the kitchen!
Damon thinks he’s a decent cook but unfortunately no one else in the house feels that way. The men continue joking as Toya ask the ladies how they slept. Alicia mentions being uncomfortable and Simone throws shade by saying Kema was in the bed with her, so of course she’d be uncomfortable. Simone hopes to show Jackie a good time due to being embarrassed by last night’s events and Lateasha apologizes to Jackie. Lateasha explains she’s an empath and that she was triggered.
Jackie acknowledges Lateasha’s hurt, but she’s still hurt by Lateasha dropping the F and B bomb on her. Jackie tells Lateasha the apology is for her as the group realizes Jackie’s not forgiving her. Jackie continues telling Lateasha she’s not going to hurt her because Lateasha lashed out, because she would’ve acted a whole fool! Simone hears the message within Jackie’s message and knows this beef is far from over. Lateasha ask Heavenly if she thinks Jackie accepted her apology and Heavenly replies “No” while shaking her head as Phaedra listens in. Goodness, a lot has happened and we’re just beginning on the next episode of Married to Medicine.
