The TLC patriarch gave an update on where he stands today after weathering the fallout, in a recent interview with People.

Kody, who turned 55 earlier this month, told the outlet that while he still had “good days and bad days” he was looking forward to a more positive future. The reality star told the outlet that while the last several years had been “sad and challenging,” he hoped to build friendlier relationships with his three ex wives, Meri, 53, Janelle, 54, and Christine, 51, moving forward.

He admitted that he’s had to work to build back his self-esteem “because it destroys your confidence when you go through a divorce or a family breakup.”

“I feel like my confidence is coming back,” Kody explained. “I got to find that space of grace and love for myself as well. Be it really forgiving of simple things, like just being angry about what has happened. I want to forgive myself for that and move on.”

He called his new normal “a journey that goes inward and it’s a journey that’s outward”

“You have to express forgiveness to the people you’ve been involved with,” he added. “You have to express understanding and hope that at the end of an era for us as a family, we still have hope of a friendship and a loving or kind relationship with each other in the future because we’re bound forever through our kids.”

In November 2021, Christine shocked fans when she announced that she was leaving the famous polygamist, after a 26-year marriage. Janelle and Meri confirmed their breakups from Kody a year later. Kody remains legally married to his fourth wife, Robyn Brown, 45.

Kody explained that after navigating the fallout from the multiple splits, he was “just healing in time and getting to a point where you feel forgiveness towards somebody who’s just said bad things about you.”

He continued — “What will move us forward will be the grace, the love and the forgiveness. The same grace and love that we were giving each other 10 years ago as we’re going through this very difficult process.”

In a previous interview with People, Kody described his unfulfilled polygamous vision as “a Shakespearean love story that’s a tragedy.”

He said — “It’s just we loved and we lost.”

Kody’s update came after TLC aired Christine tying the knot with her new husband, David Woolley, in a two-part wedding special. Kody’s ex wed the 59-year-old Utah construction executive on October 7, 2023.

The special featured Janelle, who supported Christine throughout her  breakup, sharing her thoughts on the happy couple.

“I’m overwhelmed with happiness,” Janelle said. “She feels loved. She feels seen. It just feels right that David and Christine are getting married.”

Christine seemingly jabbed at Kody and their troubled marriage when she noted that the wedding was “everything she’s wanted for so long.”
