Real Housewives of New Jersey alum, Caroline Manzo, filed a lawsuit against Bravo, Peacock and production company, Shed Media, last week, after accusing Brandi Glanville of sexual assault while filming the fourth season of Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip in Morocco.
Court documents revealed that Caroline claimed that Brandi kissed her without her consent, “then proceeded to mount Manzo on the couch holding Manzo down with her body, forcibly squeezed Manzo’s cheeks together and thrust her tongue in Manzo’s mouth, while humping her.”
Caroline, 62, alleged that the incident triggered “dormant and horrific memories” of sexual abuse she experienced as a 7-year-old child. Caroline also claimed that Brandi “forced her vagina” against her back during another interaction.
Caroline claimed in newly leaked documents that producers didn’t back down after she left Morocco early, as she was filmed on her way to the airport in a seeming effort to collect “more ‘drama’ to increase their ratings.”
The lawsuit stated — “Defendants, including Bravo, regularly ply the Real Housewives cast with alcohol, cause them to become severely intoxicated, and then direct, encourage and/or allow them to sexually harass other cast members because that is good for ratings. Caroline Manzo is a victim of those harmful actions.”
Caroline is suing the network, production and show-runners, rather than Brandi, 51, for allegedly pushing her cast mate to produce “sexually offensive and harassing content.” The lawsuit claims negligence, sexual harassment, sex/gender discrimination, sexual battery and other causes of action that Caroline alleges violates California and New York laws.
Caroline’s lawyer, Derek Smith, slammed NBCUniversal in a statement to Page Six.
“We are outraged by Bravo, Peacock and NBC’s conduct and look forward to having the issues decided by a jury. Sexual harassment should never be entertainment!” the attorney stated.
“We believe this case is about the networks selfishly sacrificing the well-being of their talent for ratings and profit,” he continued. “Brandi Glanville stated she was simply doing what the producers told her to do.”
Brandi has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, labeling the narrative surrounding the scandal “very unfair.”
Brandi responded to the lawsuit via her rep, who told Page Six — “Sadly, Brandi had to wake up to yet another lawsuit that includes defamatory, false accusations about her.”
“While filming, Brandi followed what the producers asked of her, and there was no sexual assault. She is innocent of these absurd accusations that have weighed on her mental and physical health for far too long without a word of support from Peacock, Shed or Bravo.”
The rep said — “This painful storytelling seems endless and needs to stop. She is looking to move on and upward and get her life back.”
