Heather Gay Claims She Lied About Her Black Eye to Protect Fraudster Jen Shah
Heather Gay finally disclosed the circumstances surrounding her black eye incident with Jen Shah during the third part of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 4 reunion.
In a surprising twist, Heather Gay claimed that convicted fraudster, Jen Shah, was responsible for causing her a black eye during their 2022 cast trip to San Diego. This revelation added a dramatic element to the already intense dynamics of the show’s cast.
“I ate s–t every day for her,” the Bad Mormon author, 49, said regarding Jen.
“I felt like I had to lie to protect her. I did whatever it took. I went on a book tour and defended her and took s–t for the fact that she gave me a black eye.”
At the conclusion of the Season 4 reunion, host Andy Cohen pushed Heather to provide more details about the significant black eye she sustained. This discussion promised to shed light on an incident that had been a topic of speculation and interest among viewers of the show.
“It was a lot of drinking. I woke up with a black eye. I knew I got it from Jen,” Heather explained while crying.
“[Shah] said, ‘Did I give that to you?’ I said, ‘Don’t worry, I’ll cover.’ I’d been covering her for three years. I was not going to stop.”
Heather, who claimed they were “both upset,” admitted she was “terrified to tell the truth.”
After the incident, Shah, 50, allegedly told Heather, “Unless they can show us the footage, we deny.”
Heather claimed Shah never thanked her for covering for her and said she’s “still worried about retaliation.”
Speculations about Jen Shah being responsible for Heather’s mysterious bruise and arm scratches have been a topic of discussion among fans and fellow Bravolebrities.
During a Watch What Happens Live episode in February 2023, Lala Kent expressed her belief that Jen may have hit Heather during a night of drinking, fueling further conjecture about the events of that evening. This theory gained attention as the events in question occurred off-camera.
“I think it’s from a cast member,” the “Vanderpump Rules” star theorized, prompting Cohen, 55, to add, “From Jen Shah? I do, too. I don’t think [Gay] hit her head on a cabinet and got scratches on her arm.”
Jen, who has consistently denied allegations of assaulting Heather, recently threatened to sue her former co-star, Andy Cohen, and Bravo for defamation.
The morning after Heather sustained her injury, she sought clarification from Jen about what transpired, particularly concerning her arms and severely swollen left eye. Jen initially expressed concern and quickly agreed to assist Heather in formulating a narrative to explain the injuries, highlighting the complex dynamics of their relationship at the time, “a good cover story.”
“I don’t wanna get anyone in trouble, Jen,” Heather said at the time. “So that’s why I need you to help me figure out if someone wants to talk about what really happened last night.”
Previously, Heather had been ambiguous about the specifics of her injury, alternating between claims of uncertainty and implications that she might know more than she had disclosed. This approach reflected a delicate balance in how she addressed the incident publicly.
