Renee Poche from ‘Love Is Blind’ Claims Producers Demand $4 Million for Breaking Silence, Alleges Attempt to ‘Ruin’ Her Life
Love Is Blind star, Renee Poche, dropped a bomb in a new declaration tied to her lawsuit against Netflix over alleged horrific working conditions. Poche filed a lawsuit against both Netflix and the production company behind the series, Delirium TV, earlier this month.
Renee Poche described what she experienced while filming Season 5 of the dating series in the new declaration, per Radar Online.
She accused the show of matching her with an allegedly unstable, out of work, violent drug addict named Carter Wall. She said that while she was promised a rigorous vetting process, her date allegedly had addiction issues, no income, no home, and was estranged from his family. She claimed that she was pressured to continue to interact with Wall, despite the obvious problems. The pair later traveled to Mexico, where Poche claimed she was forced by producers to stay in a hotel room with Wall.
She stated in the new declaration — “In Mexico, I became extremely stressed about this, as I was stuck in a hotel room with him and unable to leave. We were told that cameras were always watching us and that alarms would sound if we opened the door to our room.”
Poche continued — “During the entire stay in Mexico, we were allowed to leave the hotel room only once outside of filming — a one-hour stint at the pool with production watching our every move. I repeatedly told production about my dire mental state and was told I should enjoy ‘paradise.’ In reality, I was locked in a hotel room with an increasingly unhinged Wall for up to 22 hours a day. At around this time, Wall threatened to harm a camera operator, who then quit the show (while in Mexico) because he no longer felt safe.”
She added that Wall was “not mentally healthy.” She alleged that he “regularly berated me, stole from the set or places we visited, and solicited other to buy him drugs.”
“On multiple nights, Wall did not go to sleep at all,” she said. “Wall was emotionally abusive on and off camera, lied malignantly, and heavily abused drugs and alcohol.”
Poche also alleged that producers warned her to verify that Wall had no weapons, out of concern for her safety. She added that the potential risk didn’t stop them from pushing her to continue filming with her arranged suitor.
Poche claimed that she was told that the footage captured with Wall would be cut from the show. She believed that producers caved after her date purportedly threatened to hurt himself if the scenes aired.
Poche stated in the suit that the streaming service and the show’s producers accused her of breaching an NDA, after speaking out about her experience on multiple podcasts. She said that they were demanding a $4 million payout.
Poche asked the court to rule the NDA unenforceable and to award unspecified damages. She noted that she had been paid only $8k for her role on the series.
She stated — “I was utterly astonished when, on November 1, 2023, Delirium initiated arbitration against me. I feel that Delirium is trying to ruin my life and punish me for telling the truth about the unsafe working conditions I saw and experienced and the dangerous lies I had been fed. Delirium alleges that I am liable for $4,000,000 in liquidated damages for breach of the Agreement.”
