RECAP: ‘Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’ Season 4 Reunion Part Two, Monica Accused of Pretending to Be Latina!
The second part of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 4 reunion picks up with a heated argument between Angie Katsanevas and Monica Garcia, focusing on personal spending habits and parenting choices. Meredith Marks intervenes to request a temperature adjustment in the studio, humorously noting the chilly ambiance created by the winter-themed set. This moment of levity briefly cuts through the ongoing tension between the cast members.
The focus shifts to Monica Garcia’s complex family history. Particularly, the discussion centers around her mother, Linda, who Monica claims left her at the age of 12 to pursue a career in television. Host Andy Cohen, while not a psychiatrist, observes the unfolding dynamics that reveal deeper issues in Monica’s personal life and her relationships. The reunion delves into these emotional aspects, shedding light on the factors that have shaped Monica’s life and her actions on the show.
Andy Cohen posed a thought-provoking question to Monica Garcia. He asked, “Do you think your mom was auditioning to be a Housewife?”
A brief moment of unity emerges among the cast as they react to Monica’s revelations with Lisa Barlow expressing regret for not understanding the full context earlier. Heather Gay and Whitney Rose find a connection with Monica’s story, sharing their own experiences of family estrangement. However, this moment of shared understanding and empathy doesn’t last long, as the reunion continues with its characteristic drama and confrontations.
Moving on, Lisa discussed the situation with her son Jack, who was temporarily in California instead of Colombia due to a delayed Visa, caused in part by his choice of a shirtless photo for the application. Heather, feeling left out of the situation, especially compared to Whitney Rose who was more involved, addresses her feelings of exclusion. The situation brings to light Heather and Whitney’s complex feelings about Mormonism and their support for their friend. Heather expressed that she has now found a balance between these conflicting emotions, showing support for the Lisa family irrespective of Jack’s religious choices upon his return.
The topic shifted to Monica’s legal disputes. Monica had an accidental fall at Angie Katsanevas’ house (during her Greek Easter celebration), and hinted at taking legal action against her. This led to a controversial statement from Meredith Marks, which she vehemently denied. The situation escalated with speculation about Meredith’s potential involvement and her alleged comments.
This leads Angie to claim Monica has a habit of suing people. Monica, taken aback, challenged Angie to specify who she has sued or is suing. At this point, Heather chimed in, adding to the tension of the discussion. Heather reminded Monica that she’s currently suing her but in all fairness, Monica is only countersuing Heather.
Monica clarified her various surnames — Darnell? Fowler? Garcia? She explained their origins and connections to her family history. She addressed the comments about her changing surnames and denied the accusation by Lisa that she used the Garcia surname to appear more Latina for the show. The cast, however, agreed that such a remark sounds more characteristic of Jen Shah, rather than Lisa.
Mary Cosby joins the reunion stage and she’s firing on all cylinders. Mary made a return after missing the previous season’s reunion. She was in typical fruit loop form, especially regarding a personal matter involving her son and wife. Mary candidly shared her thoughts about overhearing them, expressing skepticism about their relationship and advising the partner to be more authentic.
Mary’s greeted with a light-hearted comment from Andy about her absence from the previous reunion. When asked if her presence was needed on the show, Heather and Angie acknowledge her unique contribution. Despite a brief snap at Angie, Mary softens when Angie points out her smeared lipstick, rekindling their rapport.
Heather is puzzled about losing Mary’s favor, but Mary clarifies it’s because Heather mocked her dining room chairs, comparing them to Whoville. Mary even considers her own remark about inbred appearance more offensive. Known for her frankness, Mary doesn’t hesitate to speak her mind. In a revealing clip, she advises her son’s partner to not fake her orgasms in their intimate moments to avoid falsely boosting her son’s ego.
Andy asked Mary which of the ladies she genuinely liked. After a notable pause, Mary shared her feelings about her co-stars: she likes Angie, whom she had just reprimanded, and professed her love for Meredith. Additionally, Mary showed a fondness for Monica, which wasn’t surprising given their earlier interaction in Monica’s dressing room. Mary’s knowledge of Monica’s situation and her offer of support highlight her unique connections within the group.
Heather known for being messy (and keeping a receipt) whipped out an audio recording of Monica referring to Mary as a “dumb bitch.” This revelation sets the stage for the final part of the reunion, where Monica’s involvement in the Reality Von Tease scandal will be addressed. Amid the drama, there is a lighter moment where the ladies agree that Angie’s description of Meredith as a “trampoline with eyes,” was actually meant as a compliment.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City reunion Part 2 airs on January 16, at 8 p.m. EST, on Bravo.
