Dwight Howard Granted Custody of 13 Yr Old Daughter Amid GAY Sexual Assault Lawsuit!
Dwight Howard has won a legal victory in his custody battle with ex-girlfriend, Tiffany Render. In November, Howard filed a petition to take custody of their 13-year-old daughter, Layla, from his ex.
A judge issued a temporary order in favor of the former NBA star, per court documents obtained by Radar Online.
In January 2023, the pair struck a deal that stated that Render would have primary custody and Howard secondary custody of their daughter. In July, Howard accused Render of relocating from Georgia to Florida without discussing the move with him.
Howard said that Render, “failed and refused to provide access to the Minor Child and failed and refused to discuss, in good faith, the Minor Child’s relocation, unenrollment in her prior school or enrollment in her new school in Florida.”
He went on to inform the judge that his daughter had posted a series of “inappropriate” videos on TikTok. He claimed that the teen posted videos while “scantily clad and/or in age-inappropriate clothing, with vulgar, sexual songs playing in the background, wherein which the Minor Child is making sexually inappropriate gestures and innuendo.”
Howard slammed his ex for allegedly exploiting their child by allowing her to appear on “Basketball Wives Orlando.” He pointed out that he had lost time with his daughter since the move, adding that Render demonstrated “an inability to maintain a healthy home environment in which to raise the Minor Child.”
Howard requested primary custody of Layla and demanded that his $3k monthly child support obligation be terminated.
Render responded to the suit, denying that she was on board with her daughter’s TikTok videos. She also denied Howard’s accusation that she had exploited their daughter on the reality show. Render also claimed that her ex knew of her plan to move to Florida.
She asked the court to allow her to maintain custody and to throw out Howard’s petition. She claimed that her ex planned to move overseas, potentially to Italy, for “at least five months in the very near future.”
Render noted that she didn’t want to uproot her daughter from her current school, in Florida.
On January 9, the judge awarded Howard primary custody after hearing testimony from both sides. The judge stated that “the court finds that the minor child is well adjusted and loves both of her parents very much. The court finds that despite the instant proceeding, the minor child is in a good and appropriate head space.”
The judge reminded both Howard and Render that “the parties need to work extra careful to ensure the minor child is not made to feel pressured or involved” in the custody dispute.
The pair will continue to share joint legal custody, but Howard will have the final authority regarding decisions involving the teenager. Render was granted visitation. Howard’s $3k per month child support responsibility was terminated, but the judge ordered the former pro athlete to pay $3k to cover his ex’s travel expenses.
The judge will make a final decision in May.
